  • I was at this Battleground earth concert. I loved it. They did 2 versions of who won on the show. Tommy first, then it was Ludacris, But they never said who really won. I never saw the show.

Alot of people didn't come to the concert. The producers of the show had to tell us to "All people in the back come up front cause we can't have any empty seats up front"

  • You know its cool whenever there is a jam like this....but its hypocritical. Moviestars, rockstars, millionaires, billioniares fly on luxuary jets, yachts, huge limo's, 10,000+ sq. ft. homes.....give me a break. Hope they don't waste any of that caviar and $1000.00 bottles of wine on their Rodeo Drive clothes. Nice jam session, but I buying the green bullshit!

  • yo, you forgot t omention Duff McKagan, OP. FUCK!

  • I DO, you can clearly see dave and his cap around the middle, I think, and Duff is also clearly visible

  • its billy gibbons, slash, duff mckagan, dave kushner, and tommy lee

  • To all you youngsters and folks NOT from the great country of Texas, this is the story of the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (located in La Grange). It became famous in the 60's when a local dipstick named Marvin Zindler decided to expose the den of inequity and the attendant local corruption that allowed it to flourish. The rest is, as they say, history. Then it was immortalized in song. Ya'll come back now, ya hear!

  • Actually one small correction; the song was already in the can when the raid and shut-down took place. The song went from a celebration of the place to a eulogy.

  • Isn't that Tommy Lee drumming on this?

  • yes

  • Billy Gibbons and Slash are jamming... My dream lol

  • Awesome my two favorite bands playing together, ZZ Top and Guns n' Roses (now Velvet Revolver). Sweet.

  • what's this song?

  • It's called La Grange by ZZ Top.

  • Duff is there too right?

  • zomg slash

  • switzerland,rooock n rooool,come tu europe

  • redneck trash

  • They got rid of Scott, now they just need to get rid of that fool Matt Sorum...tour with Billy and Tommy...

    /drool

  • Sorum can play ... what's your problem with him?

  • He's a fucking creep and his drumming is average. Tommy is no better, but he's at least got his shit together at this point. Sorum wouldn't be much of a loss if he went out the door.

  • Boy ... you're smart. LoL.

I've only been playing for 24 years ... what do I know.

  • What makes you think I care how long you claim you've played drums? It's an opinion here; if you don't like it, you shouldn't have asked.

  • What makes you think you're an authority on who's "average" ? If you think I'm full of shit, Maybe you should talk to Slash about the drummer he "hand-picked". I have an old issue of GP from '89, where he's going on & on about how talented a player Sorum is/was... and mentions that his techinical ability was beyond "any drummer he's ever played with" ... Up until that point anyways.

After checking out your playing. I don't think you've got a whole lot of room to talk about who's "average".

  • Have you impressed yourself yet? If you can't understand what an "opinion" is, you probably shouldn't use the internet. I never claimed to be an authority on anything. Ever. You like Sorum; that's awesome, I'm happy for you. I don't. Get over it.

All you can come up with is a mild insult about my guitar playing? I've not said one word about your musical abilities at all. That said, when you post videos of you playing the guitar better than me, I'll gladly admit it.

  • "If you can't understand what an "opinion" is, you probably shouldn't use the internet"

Did anyone ask you for you're opinion?

The same can be said to you ... I'm simply expressing my opinion of you & your "I think I'm a rock star" attitude. If you can't handle it, maybe you shouldn't use the internet.

  • What else would the purpose of a comment box be on YouTube, other than expressing opinion? Likewise, if you didn't like it, why waste your time arguing with me about it?

Explain where you get "I think I'm a rockstar" attitude from?

  • "Explain where you get "I think I'm a rockstar" attitude from?"

um ... I just did that.

"Never once have I assumed to be a better musician than Matt Sorum"

You called him "average"... Remember? I mean, average compared to who? Neil Peart? Maybe I'll give you that, but I'm forced to guess that you are no Neil Peart. So wher is the "average" comment coming from? My only guess would be, your asshole.

  • Well, average is subjective, but yes, it's a comparison to other drummers, which admittedly is not a good idea in music really in general. However, you assumed that because in my opinion I felt he's not as outstanding all the time as some credit him for that I was/am a better musician than he is. It would seem that the old rule of assuming applied in this case.

  • Yeah ... maybe I'm just looking for an argument & venting on you.

Thing is, I see alot of these sort of stupid comments on YT ... usually by kids that don't know shit. This goes to showing respect for your elders. These cats have made it, that alone should be reason enough to show some damn respect. That's all.

  • Maybe. I'm guilty of doing the same, as well as guilty of provoking arguments over random opinions and comments I disagreed with.

I never see a professional musician on the same plane as myself. Any comparison, right or wrong I make about a pro is on THEIR level, not mine. I'm still sitting at home learning the instruments; then again, those guys do also have close to 30 years on me.

  • This is continued from my LAST one up there:

This'll sound like an excuse, but truly it's not; those videos are almost a full year old. Sure, I play the cliché riffs and until more recently have stuck to the age old "box" for leads, but that was the only aim to those videos. I love playing the guitar, but I'm not out to prove myself to the world. Maybe videos were a bad idea? Sure, it's possible, but enh either way. Phases me, it does not.

  • By the way son ... I was putting my first band together, when you were still attempting to master the art of wiping your little baby ass. LMAO ... Get over yourself ... "Kid Ego".

  • Proud of yourself for pulling the age card? Do you realize how hard it is for young folk like me to have respect for older generations when people like you act like you're 12 years old? Not to mention, if you spend your time picking fights with teenagers on the internet, I'm not sure I should have any respect in the first place, even disregarding your childish insults.

  • "Do you realize how hard it is for young folk like me to have respect for older generations when people like you act like you're 12 years old?"

Call it boredom ... maybe I'm just venting.

Whatever ... If anything is immature, it's the way you're talking about pro-musicians as if they suck! Get a clue dude.

  • I never said that. I said, albeit in an awkward way, that I don't like Sorum's drumming that much. Matt Sorum could drum the flying fucking shit out of me. I wouldn't even try because it'd further embarassment. Does that make you happy to hear? Never once have I assumed to be a better musician than Matt Sorum or anyone he's ever been involved with.

  • Hey man ... you're playing is pretty good, okay. The only point I'm trying to make here, is that Ego's are what fuck bands up. It seems clear to me you have that type of ego. I've played with dozens & dozens of people over the years, and I'm familiar with the type. I won't say I don't have an ego about my own playing, but I sure as hell aint gonna call someone that's made a huge name for themselves "average". The act of making it alone, makes Sorum ABOVE "average". That's a fact!

  • But that's the thing; when I called Sorum average, I wasn't talking in the general world of music. That's even more ridiculous. I meant on a professional level. Matt has done well for himself and he does what he loves, so kudos for that as well. Thing is, everybody has an ego, but I just don't understand why you got that from me. I have claimed only once or twice to be a better guitar player than someone else, and that was provoked. T

  • Like I sad ... I'm probably just being a prick tonight... lol.

Anyways ... Just so we part on a good "note".

Here's a band you might not know about

SEARCH -> The Duke Spirit 'NEPTUNE' LIVE at Mercury Lounge NYC

Cool song ... yet simple. Chick singer ... this one moves. Take a listen.

    Later on.

  • A band you're part of, or just a different group?

Will give it a go right now though.

  • No ... Not a part of the band. I just stumbled across them, here on YouTube. Always looking for new groups... Lord know the record labels can't seem to find them. Or at least promote them like they should.

  • Most definitely. Depending on your liking/disliking for acoustic music, check out the Candy Rat artists. Andy McKee is probably the best known for his stuff thanks to YouTube, but other guys like Antoine Dufour, Don Ross and Nicholas Barron are all magnificant guitarists/songwriters/singers.

  • I'll take a look. No hard feelings ... I hope.

    Take it easy brother.

  • None at all. "Don't dish it out if you can't take it"...it's a good rule.

    Cheers.

  • Even if a player only has "average" technical ability, doesn't mean they are an "average" player! Some of the best stuff out there, is simple & straight in your face. Tommy is a prime example of that FACT! So stick your "average" comment. You come off like an egotistical asshole. Sorry I dare question your holy authority.

Scott is one of the most creative vocalists to come along in the last 20 years! His on/off again smack addiction may be an issue. But R&R is more about creativity than tech!

  • I don't understand you. I never claimed to have any authority over anything. I flat out stated that it's my opinion. It holds no factual merit whatsoever.

Scott I dig. However, if it came down to him and Gibbons I'd most definitely pick Gibbons; I like his vocal work better. Again, that's just an opinion.

  • "He's a fucking creep and his drumming is average. Tommy is no better, but he's at least got his shit together at this point. Sorum wouldn't be much of a loss if he went out the door"

LoL! Listen to you ... you sound like a giant bag of douche. What have you done with your musical carreer? How much money are you making posting cliche licks & riffs on You Tube? People like you piss me off!

Again... get the fuck over yourself, You're not that good... Ego boy.

  • Ego boy? Are you even trying to have a discussion or just call names and act superior? I've never claimed anything spectacular with my guitar playing. Go back and read the descriptions of them if you so choose; I'm the first to admit it's plain playing, and quite often sloppy. I fail to understand your point with that.

People like me piss you off? You mean people with opinions? Sorry you disagree with me, but I'm not going to change my opinion for that reason.

  • haha, that dude has like bipolar disorder or something. he's polite and collected in one post, then in the next one he's rippin you a knew one haha.

great video anyways. but i do have to disagree about matt sorum being average. i think he's pretty good compared to most professional drummers.

  • Billy Gibbons, (aka zz top) kicks so much ass that ass had to imported in from a foreign country so that Billy had sufficient ass to kick!

  • Billy gibbons should replace scott weiland

  • I went to tis show!!!

    thanx for the memories!

  • NEW ZZ Top hahaha:-)

  • F@#king awesome, thanks for the video. It's nice to see Dave out with the guys to for a change.

  • So what your saying fishnose1 is that there is too much "flavor" all at once. We need Emirel to sort all this out ! But its still cool. Better than the G3 versions.

  • Complete waste of time having them all simultaneously. About like eating lobster, tacos and chocolate ice cream out of a blender.

  • How sweet would that be! Toomy Lee/Slash/ Billy Gibbons!

  • I am not even a Rock fan but damn! how cool is that to have all those guys on one stage

  • SLASH-ZZ TOP hahahaha:-)

  • AWESOME footage! Show me more! Have mercy!

  • SLASH!

  • really cool.

  • Ah, the master and apprentices.
