@JDGDK mainstream means literally main stream. ie the most common, the largest volume or that which is normal or standard. so there are gradients. some might consider material which is marketed and sold to anyone as mainstream, but i think it pertains more to its true meaning which is most common, or popular. so i would say the more copies you have sold the more ms you are. many people shy away from ms cos of people like simon cowell, because its all about the money and not about the music.

I love both versions; they both have totally different feels to them. XX's version gives you a dark, sort of feel that makes you think and makes me feel like the person is frustrated that someone doesn't love them like they want them to and Birdy's version has deep emotion in her voice and makes me feel that the person is sad and desperate for the other person's approval.
