  • Ive never heard of American samba either. Latin dances aren't as hard as ppl think either

  • I dare you to do International Latin on internationally competitive level in Europe. I say good luck passing the first round in any of the prestigous WDC / IDSF events even after five years of practising.

  • @iceprincess15 The user was referring to America as the continent. So American Samba is basically Brazillian Samba.

  • @seravi There are three separate styles of Samba. (at least that I know of and I teach two of them) There is an "American" (US America) style Samba which is very close to the "International" style. Both are ballroom or partner dances. The Brazilian Samba inspired the ballroom versions however it is very different. Just thought I'd share, hope it helps make sense of things.

  • Can someone explain what the hell American Samba is?

  • lol

  • @skydance7: I ask because there is no such thing. Samba is a purely International Latin dance. Unless Am Samba is a take off of the INTL Samba w/o any technique or bounce or anything that resembles Samba.

  • @Br0nze Brazilian Samba had a baby called International Samba and the International version had a baby called American Samba. There is little difference between International and American style Samba. Same technical goals, slight variations on basic figures for more "leadability" in a social setting, it's exclusively danced in the US I believe. It's very commonly danced in the world of pro/am, however there is no such thing as a professional American Samba category to compete in.

  • What is this dance called 2:15?

  • International Samba. (Not to be confused with American style Samba or the samba they dance at festivals in Brazil.)

  • The dance is Samba.

    In the International Latin style.

    If that's what you're asking.

  • I dying to know the first and second song! If anyone knows clearly I would appreciate it a LOT! Thanks.

So inspring to watch this b/c I just recently started learning latin and I'm obsessed!
