Most people won't agree with me on this, but I honestly feel that Bobby Brown had a legitimate challenge at Michael Jackson's thrown had he of not let drugs and thug-life derail his career. He could sing, he could dance, he literally had the world in the palm of his hand around 88-89. Don't get me wrong. I'm the biggest MJ mark there is and he is, was, and always will be the undisputed King Of Pop, but Bobby Brown was the guy I felt was worthy of a challenge to MJ when Bobby was in his prime.

You could not have said it better bro!. Young Bobby was the man back in the day. Extremely talented. If he would have stayed cleaned and focused on his musical career, he would have become a true musical icon. Nevertheless, i will always love and respect Bobby for the great contributions he made during his prime years.

Don't be Cruel will always be the perfect New Jack Swing and soul album of all time.

He might not be the "King of Pop" but he will always be the "King of New Jack Swing" :)

King of New Jack Swing? I'll buy that. You could give him that title. I can't think of anyone else worthy of that title from that era other than Michael, but he didn't enter the New Jack Swing genre until 1991 with 'Dangerous' which was the first of Michael's album Teddy Riley worked on. By the time the New Jack Swing was starting to wind down a little.

It's amazing to think how big he could have been. He wouldn't be reduced to appearing on Celebrity Fit Club. : )
