Thanks for the posting. Would you please tell me the name of the electro magnetic lock system you are using. I am trying to build a secret door as well.
Is that a Skylink setup? I'm looking at something similar, but would operate with a hidden button instead of the controller. I like the idea of putting cabinet doors on the bottom shelves to make the top shelves and the bottom a pantry.
Forget a bookshelf! That just sticks out and would look odd in a kitchen! Use two narrow doors on the outside, so when you open it it looks likes a small pantry which would be more realistic in a kitchen. That way you have a hidden door in a door!
@therudeboy83 - it's held closed by an electromagnet, which only attracts when power runs through it. So I'm pretty sure that if the power went out, it would automatically "unlock" the door (because the electromagnet wouldn't work any more). I could be wrong (or it could have its own power source, very handy if the supervillains knock out the power to your house while you're working in the secret lab), but I think it would just end up unlocked if there was no power.
and i mean not just a few cooking books in your kitchen but a fullbook case...its weird and if i was the police i would be like HEY JIM I WONDER IF THATS REAL (COMMENSE FAKE LAUGH)
