  • I am very intererted in this camcorder. But did you convert the movie from 60p to 30p before you uploaded it to youtube?

  • @Stroheim333 No converting was done on my part. YouTube automatically converts everything to 30p unfortunately. i had a 30p timeline, and the regular motion parts you see in this video were at 60p. theres a little bit of edge artifacts, and thats just because of the 60p in a 30p timeline going to youtube as 30p. :P its pretty confusing.

  • @kudjo24 Thank you! I saw the video where you converted the film from 60p to 30p. It was rather complicated, but when you know how to do, is it very time consuming, if I have a strong computer? If I make a video each day, I dont want to sit and convert a big part of the day :/

  • @Stroheim333 yeah I wouldn't find that process convenient if you do daily videos. the files get rather large during the conversion. :\

  • hi there how does ir foucs? like do it have continus focus when it focus every few seconds or is it a autofocus lens?

  • @PhoneMrMadness it's mainly autofocus. you can manual focus, as is standard on all JVC series, but yeah mainly autofocus.

  • @kudjo24 thank you!!

  • anyway we can get a link to the original video you uploaded? I'm quite a video junky myself but i just need something simple to record my impact shots when I'm at the shooting range and for an occasional backup camcorder

  • @dacansfinest the original video i uploaded? this is the only, and original version of this...well, video lol.

  • Love this song! Great choice. Nice vid too! Proud of my Everio.

  • @sharkhead7854 thanks!

  • Do you know if the camera mic does good at high volume levels? I'm just looking for something decent to film my band with where the mic won't be constantly clipping.

  • @MeyerFilms That's a very good question! I didn't actually test out clipping levels in this video, but I'll try and let you know what it sounds like.

  • @kudjo24 Thanks.

  • Great display of the features of this camera! This model was my first foray into the world of digital cameras, and so far I've not been too disappointed. My main issue with it, was the stock battery, which only gave me a 30 min. record time (at best), but after buying an extended life battery I can get up to 3 1/2 hours, which more than covers anything I'm going to do with it. I have noticed the zoom sound on some of my recordings, but it has been easy enough to hide during editing.

  • @socialgarbage2 from one pro to the other!

  • how is the battery life?

  • @ayirocks not sure if I touched upon this, but battery life is awful. at least with the default battery that comes with it. if you pick this camera for price, I recommend you go get a second, extended life battery (it will look bigger than one that comes with this) so you can record more. not sure why it drains so quick.

  • @kudjo24 oh, okay. thanks for responding! would you recommend this or the jvc gz-hm440? im a beginner and im just looking for a good camera that shoots good quality videos. im also planning on editing.

  • @ayirocks well right off the bat I can tell you the gz-hm440 is a 1080p camera, and this one does NOT do 1080p...only 720p. So yeah, that's awesome if you can afford the 1080p version. if you're a beginner, you might go cheap, and therefore you might go with the GZ-HM30 instead :P

  • @kudjo24 yeah, I think I might go with the GZ-HM30, it is my first camera afterall. i heard some people were having trouble with importing it into their computer; sometimes it didn't look HD, their computer didn't support the format, etc. did you have problems with it? Again, I am a beginner so those kind of problems seem complicated for me to fix. Sorry for all these questions, I just want to make sure I'm making a smart buy! xD

  • @ayirocks lol well, if you can learn how to properly import footage, it should be easy. install the disk that comes with the camera, that should have a program that imports the .MTS files. you might need software to convert it with, though, if you're editor doesn't supprt AVCHD (.MTS) formats

  • @kudjo24 thanks so much for the help! :) cool video, it was actually interesting unlike other test videos where people record their garden...hahha

  • Hi, just bought this camera, your video looks so good, clear and crisp, but the quality on mine sucks no matter how i film, ( in low light, or bright light) it still looks like crap, how do i get it to look as good as yours? you think the reason it looks bad is because my pc deosnt look hd?

    thanks

  • @19MEJIA93 there are lots of variable that might depend how "crisp" it looks. your computer may be smaller than HD resolution screens (1280x800) , or your graphics card isn't handling well, or you're exporting to a compressed file that would make it lose quality, or perhaps your camera's video quality setting isnt set to LS or LE

  • how do you get the effects like in 1:35-3:15ish on the video what do you use for editing and are those results possible with the jvc software

  • @jasonbrinson20091983 perhaps you could be more specific? in there there are slow mo clips, regular speed clips, time lapse (camera feature), and just plain editing techniques. which one?

  • does this have night vision?

  • @19MEJIA93 my older JVC actually had a white LED light that acted as a night vision flash light. this HD model does not have that. however there is a "night vision" setting which is really just a super super high gain mode (little owl symbol), so i guess it does, lol. it's not true green night vision though.

  • Zoom quality is pretty good. Image quality is okay but It'll look like balls if in full screen though. Even the less expensive Pana version of the bloggie has better film quality apart sound. Can't tell with sound because you put music over it!

  • @sonic4sale at the very end of the video there is a sound segment, please watch the whole video.

  • How did you upload videos to youtube on the jvc everio hm30? I cant figure it out.

  • @LegalSk8boarding what file extension is your video clip appearing in? if you pull it straight off the everio its a .MTS file. should be under some folders like AVCHD > STREAM > something something. .MTS works in premiere pro.

  • @LegalSk8boarding i just got this camera for christmas, and i downloaded a program to convert files. i converted the .MTS file into a .MP4 file. :) hope it helped :P

  • @MissFryok how was the camera been working out for you?

  • @kudjo24 i think its great, but its my first camera, so i dont know much about it. but i really like it :))

  • Thanks for the nice video and the exhausting descrptions. My question would be if I could set the white balance manually on the camcorder. Thanks

  • @hidegpista given that the menu navigation in this newer model is more difficult than previous models, you CAN manually set a white balance...it's just a matter of "pressing" your way to the right menu.

  • @hidegpista and of course, thanks for watching ;)

  • does it come in widescreen you tube videos or do you need to edit into widescreen?

  • @tlsscoot the camera shoots native .MTS files as 1280x720 resolution. that resolution is automatically widescreen, so no, you don't need to stretch/squish this to widescreen.

  • What editing software do you use? I'm planning on getting a camera, but I don't know if I'm going to do the majority of editing on a PC or a Mac - do you know if this camera is equally fine for editing etc on both? I've had issues with compatibility on previous cameras concerning Mac/PC use, and that's a pain.

Basically, my situation is I'd like to get a camera $100-$250ish for making high quality youtube videos, potential music vid, vlog, or similar to this video. Advice on camera choice? :]

  • @BriefStarshine from what I've read, .MTS files (output file from this camera model) cannot be played back raw on Mac operating systems. you'd essentially have to convert all the footage. This, however, does not mean it won't play back in Adobe Premiere. Adobe on a Mac should let you see and edit .MTS files....unless the codecs for AVCHD are missing for Adobe Mac versions.

  • @BriefStarshine to better answer you're question, this camera should be fine with both. im sure the software with it works on both platforms. (? i hope ?) I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Final Cut X is sucky for pros, but fun for ppl just are just starting out, or do the things you described. For that price range, this camera is a wise choice. Just get more than one battery ;)

  • I've read this camera has Night Vision. If so, how is it?

  • @ilikeblondie my older JVC actually had a white LED light that acted as a night vision flash light. this HD model does not have that. however there is a "night vision" setting which is really just a super super high gain mode (little owl symbol), so i guess it does, lol. it's not true green night vision though.

  • Would this camera be good for music videos?!i need one of those beautiful cams.this looks pretty good?!

  • @yungacethebeast if you're looking for a cheap, 720p camera, and can handle (need harddrive space) converting .MTS files to .MOV for better editing, and can deal with constant 60p footage, then yes, pretty good choice for the beginner.

  • @yungacethebeast actually my answer doesn't make a lot of sense, lol sorry. a camera with lots of converting issues isn't good for a beginner. and if you want to make awesome music videos with one of those "beautiful cams", you should google Canon T3 or T3i if you have money to spare.

  • does it also slow down voices

  • @johhnycapatuy if you slow down the 60p then yes, it will slow down voices

  • Do that camcorder have slow motion or I have to make on computer?

  • @chrisgoingcrazy If you leave it as is, it will be regular motion at 60p. You can however, slow the footage down 50% in a video editing program, and the slow motion will look just as good if not better. at plain 60p to YouTube, slight ghosting appears and ruins the picture. For home video, this isn't too big of an issue. But yeah, it technically has slow motion capability.
