K162 and K163 are running again. It's a new season, and with the lakes shut down because of all the ice, the ore out of Minnesota has to move east somehow.
Good, Good, that is quite interesting. There are a few trestles that are usually Keene of interest in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. McKeesport is a hot spot, and so is the Youghiogheny River Viaduct.. BOTH of which I can railfan on a daily basis. If you look for a spot in between these 2 bridges, MP 16.8 will do the trick, crossovers, signals both east & west within 2 miles of each other, and a defect detector. If you want some more information let me know, I'll tell you more through PM.
This information will come in handy if I'm ever going to head down that way again, and know in advance. I'd like to spend a little time at West Newton. I saw that they removed the CPL's. One was laying on the ground, and I believe the other was in someone's backyard who lives along the "streetrunning." (Is that 'sneadfootball' by any chance?) Anyways, I'll let you know if I venture that way again.
West Newton is a unique shooting place to get. The CPL's were just removed this past December down there.. Q216 isn't as interesting of a train as opposed to Q226... But its always nice to see an auto train in this industrial nightmare
Great Video! also great views!!

I apologize for the frequent commenting, but K162? That train ran out of ore last spring, makes me wonder how you got the ID of K162 again..

Your best bet for trains in West Newton is to know of something coming east through Sinns or departing west out of Connellsville.

I know, I missed Q216 by about 20 minutes in West Newton. Kind of irritating, but I'll make it there again someday.

Thank you Wayne! One of my favorite parts of shooting trains in the Pittsburgh area, is all of the echoing.
