Bugs me this is considered literature. The writer or narrator is very out of touch with Hawaii maoli. The perspective is blatantly ignorant and sounds like trying hard, too hard to describe a stereotypical depiction of what only a lost and struggling haole in Hawaii could experience thru the eyes and mouth of a lost and struggling haole in Hawaii. Whole thing is tacky and misrepresentative of what Hawaii is about. Don't care to see where this leads...
