I have to point out with the VADO HD, it can be over saturated SOMETIMES .BUT WAIT! theres more! Its nice in a low light situation BEACUSE the of the over saturation (sometimes). Anyone who wants 1080p, believe me when I say that 720p is good enough and with that, the Zi8 has two options of 720p and does have the option for 1080p. For anyone who is very very very Iffy about sound, get the Zi8...EXTERNAL MICROPHONE, whoooooooooo!

I just bought a kodak after loosing 2 sony cybershots(amazing cameras) because it was cheap but if your not in direct sunlight your video is really grainy,VERY grainy, and your picture is very very dark because the flash is horrible and can only capture images less than about 2-3 ft in front of it

I got two Creative Vado HDs and the only reason I would buy the Kodak Zi8 is because of the external mic. option for those windy days. I'm happy with my Vados. I think the Flip cameras got the buyer base they got is because they, early on, they had a good hold on cheap pocket cameras. So, when they put out HD versions of their pocket cameras they gain popularity. The Kodak is a brand name, and people trust brand names. And creative does not advertise so that's why creative is about 20-30$ less

(A follow up for my comment a month ago) That is why I got a Zi8 for the holidays (as a gift , of course). I like the external microphone feature which SOLVES my audio problems (yay). And with the four video features of the ( my daytime camera ) Zi8 (WVGA - 720p - 720p\ 60fps - 1080p! ) and the wide angle / good for lowlight Vado HD. Its a pretty good two punch c-c-combo.

Well not entirely true. 16:9 is not HD. HD uses the 16:9 format. You can have television programs that have 16:9 and are not HD. Here in the UK all programes are recorded using 16:9, not all are HD. Some are but most aren't. In America I think that it's something like 4:3 or HD. 16:9 Widescreen, 4:3 Square, HD 16:9 :)

why would any one buy a flip? people, all new point and shoot cams come with hd video capturing for $20 more or even less of a flip hd. what are the snap shots better? well, a zoom lens, bigger screen, smaller size and auto focus. flash for your pictures and sd slot. so, why settle for a bulky brick when even the iphone can do a better job with no hd.

I thought of it like that before. But there's more than just resolutions. Those hd video in digital cameras may have hd resolution, but they are horrible in other aspects, although I'm rather disappointed in these pocket camcorders too.

Zi6 gets my vote. Sound is very good. The mic doesn't like wind hitting it. In all fairness, most onboard mics don't, but some are better at handling it than others. Can't speak for the mic on the Flip or Creative. Picture quality is outstanding, and I'm picky on such things. The fact that it's a little chunkier than the Flip is minor in my book. It still fits in a pocket, and the weight is so minor as to not merit discussion in my opinion. Buy the pink - cheaper & it's a very tame pink.

Kodak takes it. Flip has less HiDef and lower quality. the Vado has an overly red color balance. but it has good HD. The kodak has the best quality picture and a good HD settng.

i agree. the flip mino did portray more vivid detail. the only reason one might like the vado better is because the 1st shot was brighter and more colorful. in actuality the kodak performed the worst when bringing out details in the trees and landscape. the vado looked pretty very good, but i still feel that the mino outperformed the two on this one. this is completely unbiased as i do not own any of these cameras

From this video, it is clear that they are all very close. The VadoHD does appear to have a much wider lense. I think that is a real plus. I am not sure about the other, but the UltraHD does support replaceable rechargeable batteries.

But if you really want to have the BEST portable HD 720p camcorder, 5x optical zoom, + stunning 10Mpx still photos, check out the Xacti GC10. It rocks.

make sure that you are watching the HD version of video... if you look at the last 3 minutes of video the Mino HD is producing much better resolution , just look at the trees , you can clearly make out the leaves and branches .. the other 2 don't come close

Mino has muted, natural colors with good exposure- you can see all the shadow detail, Zi6 has a "cool" color temperature with a rich sky (slight blue push?) yet underexposes the foreground (prolly gamma issue with red and green), Vado has widest angle with better shadow detail than Zi6, yet pushes the reds and greens a bit more. I'd pick the Vado for the wide lens and good balance between rich color and decent exposure.

I own both the Flip Mino HD and the Creative Vado HD. I usually prefer the Vado HD because it handles low light better.

Also, I love that you can point the camera back towards youself and it's not out of focus like it is on the Flip HD.

Dude. Thanks for the field test but I don't care at all about how landscape shots look with these three cameras. I care more about spontaneous shots of people. Indoors. At parties and stuff. You know, the type of situation where one could just say, "Ah, I happen to be carrying a lightweight camera which I will use to capture this rare moment."
