I'm planning on buying an acoustic guitar and have a bit of an issue: I'm left handed.

Now I know there are two choices for me: either learn to play right handed or buy a left handed guitar. I wish I could learn to play right-handed, even though it will probably be harder, but I know some left handed people simply can't do it (country singer Billy Ray Cyrus is a good example).

What do you guys think?

@florinangh you should definitely get a left handed guitar. I play left handed too because when I was a young child I played this way & it is too difficult for me to play right handed now. Some guitar makes such as takamine make great left handed guitars. If you string a right handed guitar left handed it can put strain on the internal structure of the neck. Go for a left handed guitar & you can't go wrong :)

I have had my guitar for best part of a decade, this has helped me so much.

It teaches theory, the only complaint I have is I wish it would tell me more about what the hashes, etc. mean. Other than that, it's great and can I have some more please

play it with your middle on the E string 3rd fret, index on the B string 2nd fret, and ring/pinky on the 3rd fret of the e string.

Thats how most people i know play it and i find that there isnt as much of a stretch that way.

@raven87adams Lol what wrong with my guitar it's making noise! I heard guitars from big stores like Wal-mart and Best Buy often come with defects like warped necks and super high necks. But what are you gonna do? My older sister doesnt know anything about guitars so she still thinks that a guitar over 100 dollars is outrageously high XD (subject change) I guess the only thing we can do about that is just to wait and see what he decides to teach next.

(back to subject) I'm not trying to be offensive to the teacher, he's doing a nice job so far, but it's just that different people have different ways of learning so there is no set way to learn music. I think the most important thing when you're learning guitar is that the students should have fun, and maybe teaching more recent songs and chords would make people more interested. Besides, guitars not exactly like other instruments.

Well I admit I'm still a beginner at guitar (only started 2 weeks ago) but that doesn't make me a failure for voicing my opinion. These videos were the first lessons I took on YouTube, and since then I've watched many other guitar tutorials. I also admit that I did learn a lot of "simple" songs through this teacher but I would prefer songs with chords and more modern music. You don't need to sound so harsh =/

I'm not sure if I like ur teaching methods because most people start out teaching chords and teach at a slower pace. You should also show them the E major and A major chords... Oh well, I appreciate the effort =)

I don't really think the person who necessarily uploaded these.  The beginning of this video has a generic font, yet the rest of the video is professionally done. Most likely, he uploaded an instructional video to help you guys. It's nothing bad on him, I just don't think he is the man in these videos.

@MRItachiWarrior2 well, when you play chords, you play all the strings together. Different chords just means different fingerings, but you still play all the lines. Did I explain it?
