  • over a year since I posted on this site. Despite a struggle I survived my surgery and the good lord saw fit to keep me going on. I truly beleive that it is in his hands that our futures are planned. This piece will always remain close to my heart.

  • @lolandjane So pleased to learn you have survived your surgery. - Music does help in the healing process,a nd good to ready your comments. - May God continue to give you peace and the strength you need.

  • I once was a hopeless dope fiend, now I'm a dopeless hope fiend!

  • Paul's music is so exciting!

  • It's a beautiful peace of music, but I think it sounds better when it's played a bit slower.

With Brass Band Willebroek, it's a bit more 'peaceful' :p

  • I have heard blake dyke play this but when they played the slow, more peaceful part (4:15- 6:40) i didnt get the chills, when the ISB do i get the chills, it's so beautiful! beautiful piece of music, wonderfully played by ISB

  • @Saraaa91 can't beat a sally army band playing parts like that. Some people say its cos they r thinking of the words and not just the notes but to be honest i havnt got a clue!

  • This piece makes me shiver all over every time i hear it :)

  • I had the opportunity to play this over the summer. It's a fairly good piece, but it was terribly overshadowed by another piece we were playing: The Holy War.

  • If you see a piece by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, you know it's going to be gold.

    Brilliantly played

  • i saw black dyke black play this which the first time it had ever been played out of the bandroom, was so good. we are playing this at the moment, the solo cornet part is a killer, especially at the end of a concert.

  • Black Dyke band played this piece at the world band festival in lucerne (switzerland) it was great

  • vitae aeternum is just a amazing beautiful piece of music, i have played this magic on both euphonium and 2 baritone and playing the euphonium part was just wonderful. Oh God i love this music piece <3

  • Yeah I am in the same position. In Anglia Youth Band I sit euph number 2 but i played 2nd bari part at Territorial youth band last year

  • i love the isb! Played this at tyb with dr Stephen Cobb conducting and his son was playin with us. I was playing the 2nd baritone part but its still a killer. Thanks for posting this have been looking for a video of vitae since february straight after tyb. I love this the whole way through but it is especially amazing in the intro and from F onwards.

  • I Heard the ISB play this at Derby a couple of weeks ago - It was phenomenal, i got so excited that a day later I was in hospital - i done my appendix in!. Listening to this brings back the memories, can't wait for the ISB to put it on CD

  • Haha brilliant. I had a free isb concert at tyb. And they played this. And eminence brass were there too! What an amazing week it was this year!

  • The Wonderland Band at CMI (Central Music Institute) just played this this week.

Quite a piece. Quite a blow.

  • Incredible piece. Easily one of the 10 best composed in the last 25 years. I had the opportunity to watch Black Dyke perform this at their Christmas Concert at Huddersfield in December. Fantastic. I worship the Lord as I listen to it now here. Eagerly await for the release on CD. Proof that percussionists can compose!!!!!!!!!!
