I really wish this would've gone on her "Unplugged In Nashville" EP last year. She's such an incredible singer, and this song would've served as major potential. Oh well, it's still an awesome song! It's really sad at how her music career never had success after American Idol. She's the BEST Idol Runner-Up! Her calling is Broadway musicals though. She still needs to write more material in the meantime. Country music fits her!
This is a great song and if she wanted to lead off with this as her first single, it should be a hit. These are the 9 songs she has leaked out so far, RBWWE, Better With Time, Yesterdays Makeup, You're Lovin' Her, Kiss Me, Thank You, Mr. Right, Find Me and Pieces. As of now, I'm one of a few that has heard them all and I like them all too. I really like Kiss Me and Find Me is outstanding but really all of them are excellent and this will be a great album for Diana.
Oh gosh! AWESOME. I have faith Diana will get the fame, and her talent will be shown more mainstream like she deserves in country.
My only problem is she is already "country" enough without having to add additional twang on her country songs. It upsets me a little that she isn't being completely true to herself. A lot of country artist do that. I think Carrie Underwood is authentic and doesn't add extra "twang" to be something she's not.
I still LOVE Diana, and want to see her successful!
I don't think she's being untrue to herself. She's gotten criticized a lot for sounding too pop, so I think she's just adjusted her singing style. I haven't really noticed any extra twang that is so out there for how she usually sounds. If she starts sounding like Kellie Pickler, then we have a problem!
Actually listening back a second time I do think you are right. It was not as *twangy* as I initially thought. I think your right that it's just from the singing style being adjustted.
I think Diana is completely authentic and believable. It'd just that the girl is amazingly talented and can easily transition between genres and fit in with the song. She spent most of 2007 recording/singing R&B stuff, so obviously she has to adjust back.
Point is, she's being true to herself, finally she's writing songs herself, after being told that she shouldn't by people she has worked with before.
