  • I recently got this organ from craigslist for free. It is amazing!!! I honestly just wish I could find some cartridges for it!

  • @JakeZelmore Very nice to have found one for free. Do you plan to make videos of it? I did get a few cartriges when I got mine. I am planning to sell my instrument soon if you know of anyone who might be interested. Gary

  • @HD7100 Idk. I am not confident enough to post videos. I honestly love playing the organ but its mostly for enjoyment and something to do. I must say though, I've owned a Wurlitzer 4500, two kimballs, a Hammond m-100, and now the lowrey gx and a 4 year old lowrey parade. They all have their perks that make them special but I honestly love the Lowreys. I'm 19, I really don't know anybody who would want to buy one. In my area, free organs are a dime a dozen and no one takes them.

  • @JakeZelmore You might try Durthaler Piano & Organ here in Columbus Ohio for cartridges. They are the oldest existing Lowrey dealer in the world. Read Dale Durthaler's obituary, he was a great man:)

  • When I was 10 I used to play this song, they made me learn it when I took organ lessons ( this was 1978) I hated it! Now I love this song, and I STILL play the organ, I have a big old Lowrey... lol.....

  • @Novaheart1998 Thanks for listening. I played this song much differently in my early years than as I played it in this video.

  • That was my Mom and Dad's song before they got married.

  • I always enjoy good versions of HHtMoon.

I like it when the 'trumpet section' kicks in!

*I recommend the original Stan Kenton recording with June Christy, as well as the live WNEW SATURDAY NIGHT SWING SESSION performance with Roy Eldridge and Mel Torme on drums.

    Time to play yours again!

  • Lowrey is now owned by Kawai Piano Company of Japan, and just after Lowrey closed it's door for a short while I think somewhere in the 1990's or possibly in the late 1980's?

  • Good organ playing!

  • I used to have a G7000 which was identical to yours. I thought the GX365 was the two-manual. Anyway. Love the arrangement!!!

  • Good playing! I like your Lowrey organ! Especially the 3rd keyboard as that was the synthesizer keyboard of that particular model. I hope to find one just like it!

  • I liked what you did with that old standard. The organ was good in it's day, but todays crop of new high end Lowreys would shock you. There's no longer any need for the 3rd manual now that you can split the lower manual.

Type in Lowrey Majesty in your YouTube search and look for a couple of songs I posted...Holiday For Strings, and Poco Loco, and you'll see what I mean.

    Again...nice job.

    Jerry

  • Thank you Jerry. The Les Paul and Mary Ford version and the Manhattan Transfer versions are my favorites of this song. When ever I hear myself play it I just don't have that special edge on it like they did.

  • Thank you.

  • My first organ was a Lowrey spinet. Agreed, they certainly have come along way. Great job on that number!

  • I remember when this organ was brand new, and my first experience playing one. I love your style and really enjoy hearing this console. Nice!

  • Thanks! It is an interesting synthesizer to play. I had a difficult time getting used to the key action. For some reason it just felt different to play.

  • Boy those Lowreys have come along way from the old Holiday I owned in the 60s. Love what you did with the song!

  • Actually the only thing my Lowrey GX365 and say a Lowrey Holliday have in common is the name. My Lowrey is really a Kawai G7000. It is a nice late 1980s FM Synth. It also has midi out so I can play Virtual Theatre Pipe Organ using the Lowrey console as a controller. I appreciate the compliment. Thanks!

  • Interesting use of the B3-esque percussion on the solo manual, nice to hear something other than the run-of-the-mill Jimmy Smith routine. Sweet synth sounds too, you're quite the versatile organist! Nice upbeat tune, five and faved.

  • Thanks! The organ actually sounds better live. I might think about getting a better video camera with decent mikes. When I play the piece casually I play it much better than I did in the video. When I know a recorder is running I get somewhat tense and that really irritates me. I really liked how Les Paul and also the Manhattan Transfer treated this piece.

  • I can certainly relate to that. I play much better when I know that camera is not rolling behind me. And I agree, ALL organ playing sounds much better before it's uploaded to YouTube and ruined by processing and compression. Still, your playing sound good!
