Broken Social Scene always have incredibly original ideas for videos, and songs. It would be sweet if they tried to make a vide ofor "Tremeloa Debut".
bss are pretty nice people, they weren't too cool to give us a bit of chocolate and a few brazil nuts in liverpool after the show on the bus, and had a nice little chat with us too. They also played a 2 hour set in a tiny venue too which was just a bit good.
Oh good, good stuff; I've instant mad props for bands that can rock the odd meters -- let alone be gutsy enuff to call attention to that fact in their song's title! But I hate the current trends in modern hipster guys' hairstyles!
WOW!!! Great stuff... Everybody should know, but life is weird this way... It is a very broken social scene... Time for smokey treat... THANK YOU FOR THE TUNES!
If you like this, I'd reccomend you check out these bands:
The Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, and of course the bands that help make up Broken Social Scene, Metric, Stars, Feist, Apostle of Hustle, and now K-OS, am MC from Toronto also works with them a bit. Check it out.
This is the essence of the band man, when i saw them live it was like 4 guitars, bass, brass section, two drum kits, all the girls had various precussion, by the end it was just a wall of noise, absolutely fabulous. It's like almost crimes meets stars and sons, amazing song... well now to the video... er... it's aweful, wtf? zebra head in a car... pointless imagery and er... symbolism i guess?? I wish they'd put as much enjoyment in this video as they did for fire- eye'd boy.
I going to go out on a limb and say that the 7/4 time signature is what inspired that part of the name. For those interested I will be making more obvious commentary on other things throughout my life. Love this band. Check out a more obscure band called Brother's Past if you like this band.
Emily Haines is a beautifully brilliant musician and person. I think she is one of the few, if not the only girl I know about on the planet that if I were offered a night with her, I'd say no. Not on the grounds she isn't good looking or anything. Not at all. She's probabaly the only women out there who I would not feel worthy of. I am pretty cocky. DAMNED cocky. But the way she presents herself through song and through word is just awesome.
damn these guys are actually pretty good. and im a fan of screaming, speed metal, metal, death metal, and alt. rock which is the totally opposite of this.
Super cool. Super hot. Very sleek. Captures their energy perfect! They blew away most of the bands at Lollapalooza...and EVERY band member was there! Feist, Emily, and Amy all together! Wow.
Dude, they're from Toronto. Some of them are from Montreal, but they are mainly what can be called a Toronto band. And that's coming from a Canadian. Get your cities right.
Never heard of these cats until I saw 'em by accident at FRF in Japan on Sunday. Amazingly powerful show, superb. Didn't have enough people on the stage though. Great band. Come back soon please.
all right i know it takes guts to admit your a FWM fan when you are an indie rocker like myself but i can only guess the comment was made regarding the stage antics as they are reminiscent of stevie and lindsey-- not saying they are also having a cocaine love affair .....i would not say the sound is similar, i do agree it is fucking BSS.
For BSS neophytes, make sure to check out Almost Crimes. These guys are amazing. If you ever get a chance to see them live, don't miss it! This is one of those bands that will blow you away in concert.
7/4 time has always made more sense to me/felt more "organic" than 4/4 or anything considered "normal" by airplay standards. I love this.....thanks for posting it.
i'm never gonna be into this kind of stuff, but atleast these guys have originality with it not being in 4/4 and guitars playing quavers. Refreshing to see this!
