"complete the mission"?!? OK, the mission was to drive out the Taliban, capture Osama Bin Laden, and then come home. If Afghanistan wants a tribal government, filled with corruption and terrorist supporters, that's their business. We have no clear goal, no exit strategy whatsoever, only war for profit for soulless mercs like Xe (or Blackwater, or whatever the hell they call themselves now.) and KBR, etc. reaming the US taxpayer out of billions so that our troops can remain targets. Grow up, lady
"..train Afgan troops, give them support, money, and arms...". Sounds familiar?? The US also trained Bin Laden, gave him money and arms. We have no clear mission and goals. We're simply making things worst for them and us. There's no good end to this occupation.
Why isn't anyone talking about the 3000 coffins of American civilians that were used due to our inaction in Afghanistan after the first time Bin Laden tried to blow up the towers? I truly believe that if we do not act to stabilize Afghanistan that history could be repeated.
Its a logical fear (not to want another 9/11 type attack) the problem is we are killing mothers, daughters, sons and fathers over there and most aren't anything but civilians. We are creating enemies and to me thats the biggest fear of mine by being over there. Creating more whom hate America for a legitimate reason.. Not because we are free.. but because we blew the mans kids to bits, or his wife.. or a child turn terrorist because of no father or mother.. Brewing is what we are doing.
Draft? Why are people talking about a draft? Things would have to get a whole lot worse to have to enact a draft. We went up against Iraq when they were the 4th largest army in the world and did not need a draft.
come on home, more troops=more dead American soldiers, if you don't believe me try it once. plus a country didn't attack us so what wtf are we doing besides getting killed
She has kids in the army, and the other is married to a guy in the navy? Wow, they're obviously experts on this. I guess it's better than the people who are paid to regurgitate over used talking points.
haha, the mother wants more mothers to have go thru the bullshit she has to go thru. why send our boys to fight for a corrupt leader of another country
The war is an unwinnable mess. The tribal states do not want any change. We outnumber the taliban 12-1, and still no progress, except for the corporations and banks that are taking full advantage of empire building, at our soldiers expense.
War is when young poor men fight and die to protect the interests of old rich men.
Don't join the military... I know Americans are very proud of their military, but before you join up you should really read 'The Grand Chessboard' by Zbigniew Brzezinki, or check out what Kissinger has to say about soldiers. Do you want to die for the CFR? Would you want your children to join up, kill and risk death, all to further to goals of the bankers, businessmen and their globalist-corporatist dystopia?
The President needs to either shit or get off the pot. Either send in more troops, or get them out of there. This half arsed way it is being run is reminiscent Of Vietnam.
Both women have good points, and there is no reason to speak against either of thier views. Pulling out of Afghanistan now would cause it to return to its orginal state, wiping all progress our men and women have made. It would be a slap in the face to the service members that have fought, been injured or died fighting there.
The familiy separation sucks, but in order to keep this country free and safe, we must rid the world of the Taliban all together.
No disrespect but the woman in the lavender jacket is just SO ignorant... She thinks there is any chance we are going to leave Afghanistan as a land of the free, and we should give their government anything they need in support?
Has she been following the news at all? Their government is completely corrupt, the President that WE appointed just stole an election and his brother is one of the top drug kingpins in the country. Taliban thrives on drug money. Does she know ANYTHING?
i agree with you. she grew up in the era were they were told their government would never lie to the American people and what they say goes. she is no clue what is best for the country. what we are doing in other parts of the world is not only immoral but illegal. its not about the people there. ITS ABOUT MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!
Yea right, lest give em all they need. That means borrowing more and more money from China to extend our exit date a date which would in all certainty return afghanistan to its former state
boots920 is right, I would add that both wars were/are wars of attrition with no other purpose than to make money for the military industrial complex.
1) Bin laden aint been found
2) Taleban aint been defeated
3) Now you got more corruption in the country,
In Iraq
1)Saddam dead, but more killings

Lady your pride is going to get your kids killed.
Karen you don't know the history of Afghanistan. No country has ever won there.

Vietnam at least had real journalists, we are stuck with people who forgot what the job was
mmanouvelles 2 years ago 3
you can blame that on the pentagon who has pretty much set policies and control of the media to gag real journalism to promote propaganda.

Vietnam = Afghanistan
The only difference is the location on the planet . You all know how Vietnam ended Afghanistan will be no different.
Biggest challenge is funding a war that has no benefit for American citizens. Learn from the insightful leaders of the past.
All wars are follies, very expensive and very mischievous ones.
