Casino Royale was ok but it was really boring at the poker scenes! QoS is mush more action packed and it is gorgeous (especially Olga Kurylenko! She is gorgeous!)!!!
This was a good movie, but I liked casino royale better. I think Craig has really raised the bar for bond actors. His bond just looks and acts more real, not just a man runnig around in a nice neat suit.
I thought this was a pretty good bond movie, my friend and i got stuck at the movies after getting dissapointed from twilight and went to see this. Had a pretty well thought out script and plot, intense action sequences, especially the opening chase sequence, which i consider to be one of the best car chases ever. But at times it seemed to get dull, though i was quite sleepy from twilight, which was dissapointing. So maybe i oughta watch this movie again. I give it a 8.5 out of 10.
Maybe I'm crazy but I prefer this movie than Casino Royale - more action scenes, great storyline and visual effects. Daniel Craig was fantastic. Olga Kurylenko (Camille) is definitely one of the most beautiful and memorable Bond Girls plus she looked much stronger than weak Vesper in Casino Royale. Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini were great as well. Gemma Arterton looked absolutely useless.

I think this film was a bit dull, weak plot, and the Bond villan is just crap, hes not menacing, and what was that stupid building they fight in at the end? but i guess with that said, i can uderstand the film was maybe trying to strip the bond character of everything, after CR, no gadgets, no famous line, he almost has no personality in this film, trying to make him too cold, so that by the end hes saying to M, "im ready to be Bond", if that makes sense?
When a formula gets a bit tiresome, Its time to work in new Ideas. And that can be risky. While this isnt the Bond Im used to, I respect that Its trying to maybe re-invent "Bond." Maybe even create an actual start, or origin to this character. But with this done, Its probably wise to work back in the whole "Charisma" and what we all loved about classic "Bond" in future films. Cus taking too much out, will leave it empty.

i think its great they restarted the james bond films cause all the other 20 odd films were not in order and made no sense if u think about the time gaps. So i think casino royale was a perfect start and quantim of solace was a good follow up just showing a 007 sequel could be made and be quite good. i was kinda disapointed wen the 007 theme nd tht wasnt in royale and the same with solace but the 007 iconic themes and characters r slowly but surely working their way back in.

QOS is a great film; however, to me, it is 15 minutes too short. More flashbacks to Vesper and more personal torment scenes would have provided a better link between QOS and Casino Royale, to show why he has become unhappy, cold. Apparently, the script was rushed and even the filming was rushed, both because of strikes within the film industry. Shame.

i know im a little late on this but i just saw the movie for the first time....and i have to say that was the absolute worst bond movie i have ever seen....the plot was choppy, bond looked like a pussy with feelings rather than a badass international spy, there was no love scene with the lead female, the aston martin had about 10 minutes of screen time right at the beginning and the ending looked like they developed it right off the top of there heads....garbage just garbage

I thought it was good. Not better than Cr but it was good. I just felt it wasn't Bond enough. He's not smooth like the others, I didn't feel anything for another *sigh* Economic plot... No good villains. I know its trying to hit a realistic note in the films, but isn't what made Bond and make the films so great that it had that bit of cheese and gadgets? Good movie, but Casino Royale was definitely better. At times it felt a little too chase movie-esque, and when it ended, it left me kind of like "Oh, that was it?". It had less Bond girl fuckage then most of the movies, but I actually kinda think movie sex is just a cheap way to appeal to people who otherwise wouldn't dig the movie for itself. I really like these new Bond films, very gritty with no cheesy shit (cept some of the fights).
John Barry's soundtracks were nothing short of magnificent and unforgettable. From the beautiful "Capsule in Space" music in "You Only Live Twice" to the mood provoking "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" music in "Thunderball" to the charismatic "Ski Chase" music in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." David Arnold's music is not memorable and today's Bond films have little shelf life.
A quality OO7 film needs a potpourri of elements that mix together and produce an emotional charge from the audience. Examples: something called MUSIC (great opening theme and incidental music - where the hell is it these days?), great, memorable villains and their lead henchmen, clever sexual innuendos, cleaver dialogue, a creative storyline. Only endless, ridiculous ear-deafening action and computerized special effects do make a classy, charismatic OO7 film. Change isn't always better.
CR had that "potpourri" so does QOS, it just has lots of action sequences to keep you on thte edge of your seat. I agree that the opening theme was pretty terrible (who doesn't?) but I thought the score was magneficent while not as good as Barry's, certainly was one of DA's best work. Greene was a memorable at times scary villain, the film had a good plot, and plenty of clever bits of dialogue that you deny. Folks like you who want Bond films to constructed like a recipe, should be shot.

It may be what Ian Fleming envisioned, but a novel doesn't translate to the big screen with any of the same success as it has in print, iff you try to produce a film exactly as depicted in a book. Hence the aesthetic failure of Quantum of Solace.
Without a doubt this is what Ian Fleming wanted Bond to be about...he overshadows the Bond girl...just like Jason Bourne, he actually gets hurt and shows signs of it...his Aston does not get shot at 1000 times and have no damage like in former movies...if there is a crash you don't see a car jump in the air and see the blast can under it...he is a perfect Bond...I look forward in 5 years to Denzel Washington being the first Black Bond...he would be fantastic taking it to another level...

A successful and aesthetically creative OO7 film needs much more than just an over-indulgence of action and special effects. It needs a comprehensive storyline, Q, Moneypenny, interesting and memorable villains and their top henchmen...and most important, GREAT MUSIC - opening theme AND incidental music. Unless the producers begin to realize the well-balanced needs of a top-notch and memorable OO7 film, this same old action and effects-only nonsense is going to get old...and it already is old.

Listen to me. Quantum of Solace is a brilliant thriller. The film speaks to transnational capital, class disparity, corruption, and paranoia. Speed, location, and fragmentation underscore this theme. Ebert argues that Bond must "stand above" our "swampy world." I feel that Quantum consciously resists this liberalism. This film goes beyond espionage and despotic fantasy and instead calls attention to corruption at the highest level and slams philanthropy, "rights," and other status quo politics.
most people complain about the plot, but if you examine greene's character/intentions, the movie is pretty deep. criticizing ppl liek al gore, bono, etc. its a movie like dark knight, no country for old men, where if you examine the story, its a very well made film

Saw it the first day it came out! This movie was great, but not as good as Casino Royale. When i left the theater, i felt like something was missing. Still an awesome movie though.
Personally, I think this movie wasn't very good as a Bond film. It was mediocre at best, didn't feature the Bond theme song at all and just didn't feel much like a 007 film. The action was good, but the story and dialogue was lackluster, and it will not hold up in 007 film history.

I've watched all the other movies and I have to say that there was nothing in QOS that distinguished it as a Bond film. Most of the action scenes were awful, the camera moved to fast. It was a sequel, which has never been done before and was a complete turnoff to me. Oh, and don't forget they forgot to put the barrel sequence at the beginning. What the shit was that? DAD was no doubt an awful Bond film, but at least they got the barrel sequence right.

i think its great they restarted the james bond films cause all the other 20 odd films were not in order and made no sense if u think about the time gaps. So i think casino royale was a perfect start and quantim of solace was a good follow up just showing a 007 sequel could be made and be quite good. i was kinda disapointed wen the 007 theme nd tht wasnt in royale and the same with solace but the 007 iconic themes and characters r slowly but surely working their way back in.

QOS is a great film; however, to me, it is 15 minutes too short. More flashbacks to Vesper and more personal torment scenes would have provided a better link between QOS and Casino Royale, to show why he has become unhappy, cold. Apparently, the script was rushed and even the filming was rushed, both because of strikes within the film industry. Shame.

Quantum of Solace was pretty good.

I thought it was good. Not better than Cr but it was good. I just felt it wasn't Bond enough. He's not smooth like the others, I didn't feel anything for another *sigh* Economic plot... No good villains. I know its trying to hit a realistic note in the films, but isn't what made Bond and make the films so great that it had that bit of cheese and gadgets? Even so, It hits the realism really well and its still a good Bond film. Is it me, or do we have alot of underrated films this year?

Good movie, but Casino Royale was definitely better. At times it felt a little too chase movie-esque, and when it ended, it left me kind of like "Oh, that was it?". It had less Bond girl fuckage then most of the movies, but I actually kinda think movie sex is just a cheap way to appeal to people who otherwise wouldn't dig the movie for itself. I really like these new Bond films, very gritty with no cheesy shit (cept some of the fights).

John Barry's soundtracks were nothing short of magnificent and unforgettable. From the beautiful "Capsule in Space" music in "You Only Live Twice" to the mood provoking "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" music in "Thunderball" to the charismatic "Ski Chase" music in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." David Arnold's music is not memorable and today's Bond films have little shelf life.

A quality OO7 film needs a potpourri of elements that mix together and produce an emotional charge from the audience. Examples: something called MUSIC (great opening theme and incidental music - where the hell is it these days?), great, memorable villains and their lead henchmen, clever sexual innuendos, cleaver dialogue, a creative storyline. Only endless, ridiculous ear-deafening action and computerized special effects do make a classy, charismatic OO7 film. Change isn't always better.

CR had that "potpourri" so does QOS, it just has lots of action sequences to keep you on thte edge of your seat. I agree that the opening theme was pretty terrible (who doesn't?) but I thought the score was magneficent while not as good as Barry's, certainly was one of DA's best work. Greene was a memorable at times scary villain, the film had a good plot, and plenty of clever bits of dialogue that you deny. Folks like you who want Bond films to constructed like a recipe, should be shot.

Exactly, starting from the first 5 seconds you see the shit stopping action sequence that constantly shifts camera angles to throw you off and make you barf only to wish that it would all stop.

Long gone is the villain vs. Bond dynamism/confrontation. Why was there no overall mission briefing to make clear of the objective? Making things clear is just too orthodox or something? They just gave him a lead and told him to follow it.

Without a doubt this is what Ian Fleming wanted Bond to be about...he overshadows the Bond girl...just like Jason Bourne, he actually gets hurt and shows signs of it...his Aston does not get shot at 1000 times and have no damage like in former movies...if there is a crash you don't see a car jump in the air and see the blast can under it...he is a perfect Bond...I look forward in 5 years to Denzel Washington being the first Black Bond...he would be fantastic taking it to another level...

A successful and aesthetically creative OO7 film needs much more than just an over-indulgence of action and special effects. It needs a comprehensive storyline, Q, Moneypenny, interesting and memorable villains and their top henchmen...and most important, GREAT MUSIC - opening theme AND incidental music. Unless the producers begin to realize the well-balanced needs of a top-notch and memorable OO7 film, this same old action and effects-only nonsense is going to get old...and it already is old.

Listen to me. Quantum of Solace is a brilliant thriller. The film speaks to transnational capital, class disparity, corruption, and paranoia. Speed, location, and fragmentation underscore this theme. Ebert argues that Bond must "stand above" our "swampy world." I feel that Quantum consciously resists this liberalism. This film goes beyond espionage and despotic fantasy and instead calls attention to corruption at the highest level and slams philanthropy, "rights," and other status quo politics.

Saw it the first day it came out! This movie was great, but not as good as Casino Royale. When i left the theater, i felt like something was missing. Still an awesome movie though.

Personally, I think this movie wasn't very good as a Bond film. It was mediocre at best, didn't feature the Bond theme song at all and just didn't feel much like a 007 film. The action was good, but the story and dialogue was lackluster, and it will not hold up in 007 film history.
New schoolers without much Bond experience might love it, but true Bond fans will be somewhat let down.

Dude you took the words right out of my mouth. While the new kids love it, they've only seen Casino Royale and don't have much to compare it to. But I've seen every Bond film ever made at one point or another and I have to say that even Pierce's Die Another Die was better than this piece of shit.

dude, die another day is not even a movie. its just collection of fake cgi, too much product placement, ridiculous gadgets and retarded characters(ex, the villain trying to speak korean but sounds retarded). QoS was much better movie than all pierce brosnan except goldeneye. it was a continuation of casino royale and tied up all the loose ends. as an avid bond fan, i can say that craig is one of best bond ever, close to the dark literary bond than corny bond

I've watched all the other movies and I have to say that there was nothing in QOS that distinguished it as a Bond film. Most of the action scenes were awful, the camera moved to fast. It was a sequel, which has never been done before and was a complete turnoff to me. Oh, and don't forget they forgot to put the barrel sequence at the beginning. What the shit was that? DAD was no doubt an awful Bond film, but at least they got the barrel sequence right.

Blasphemy. No one will ever be better than Sean Connery, any avid Bond fan would know that. And Craig could never be better than Brosnan. Brosnan had a swaggar that rivaled even Sean Connery. Casino Royale was good, not outstanding, but good. QoS is a piece of shit, and Craig's films overall can't even touch Brosnan's. Get out of here with that crap.

Im sorry but I thought it stunk. Make sure you catch up on all the videos before you see it because I never saw a James Bond movie and I had no clue the entire time what the movie was about....If you love James Bond see it, if you don't, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! sincerely, very unhappy viewer

well, if you havent seen Casino Royale, then im sure u have no idea what just happened. The plot was actually very deep, and i enjoyed it. watch the first one and then see this one again and it'll make so much more sense.

i didnt watch the sequel cause i heard its all a casino thing. basically him in a casino, which didnt quite speak to me much to see it, i liked quantum in that sense that he moves around the world pulling off the new bond style thing :)
