  • the cutest face on tv in those days i thought.

  • Skeeter Davis did it originally I think and I have it on CD these days - good Aussie cover though from back when Bandstamd was all we had!

  • Anyone here because of 'Music for Pussycats'?

  • yes..she died many years ago......

  • Oh..how I miss these beautiful people..she was beautiful and I wish she was still with us....

  • @bobbiebenanzac Is Laurel Lee dead???

  • this song was also covered in oz by the cousin of divinyls singer chrissy amphlett aka little pattie but pattie was not as strong as laurel vocally so her version lacked the oomph worth a listen to tho as little pattie was a true legend of the surf/stomp era in oz . don''t believe me ? just ask any blond-haired stompie wompie real gone surfer boy

  • Check ot Laurel singing "Good Day Sunshine" live with Seeker Athol Guy and backed by The Twilights. excellent

  • outstanding trip down memory lane but isn't the miming weak?

  • @gcpayne

It's only because the sound track is out of sync with the picture, even Brian Henderson's intro is different to the picture.

Check out Laurel singing "Good Day Sunshine" live with Seeker Athol Guy and backed by The Twilights, top stuff!.

  • outstanding trip down memory lane, but isn't the miming weak?

  • Funny! It's december and im getting ready for June!

  • How simple and inocent the tv shows were.

  • She was beautiful. Also a great singer. A regular on Bandstand. R.I.P. Laurel.

  • I`ve never heard of this aussie singer until now. The song however, yes!, and it was done by diana ray, i even picked up on it. The question is many American artists have had the hits covered by aussie or british artist, what i want to know is who came thu first with the hit, was it the american version theat was played here or the overseas vrsion that wasn`t..émeaning that an American singer like Diana Ray for nstance may of did a cover of Laurel Lee`s Lifeguard...i`m just wondering. THX

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ Diana Ray's was the hit out here. Many covers were done by the Bandstand crew.

  • the first time i heard this song was in the early 80s n fell in luv thru n thru......owwwwwww........

  • Wow what memories this brings back. I remember watching Laurel Lee when i was a kid - she was fabulous. This version of this song is a good as the Dianne Renay version if not better!

  • Youtube is one amazing place. I had totally forgotten this beautiful woman. Being a young Hobartian in the 60's, I was in love with this woman - Beautiful looking and a wonderful singer. I remember getting into trouble at home because I waited outside Wrestpoint Hotel (now the Wrestpoint Casino) into the early hours of the morning just to get a look at Little Patty. She didn't disappoint us young bucks. It was a pity I never had the chance to see Laurel Lee live.

  • Really nice cover of this diane ray classic slightly speeded up but i don't think this distracts from the song at all if anything it's a better version cheers gazza uk

  • Nice cover, I like it!

  • Andrea Carroll's version is better IMO, this is too sped up

  • Yo thanx for ul.... Here in Germany you can't get those clips... Do upload more ...

  • A very commendable rendition of the Diane Ray classic. Laurel Lee certainly left an impressive legacy. Right up there with Little Pattie's best work.

  • Hi shez, Mum died of Leukaemia in 1992 (2 weeks before my wedding). She actually sang at an Australia Day gig on Jan 26th a few weeks before. It was sudden and she did not suffer for too long as other poor souls do. She had obviously been ill for some time but was only diagnosed a week before her death.

  • Your mother in 5 words.

    Beauty

    Brilliant

    Talented

    Popular

    Before-her-time

She was great, she shaped Australian music and television and she was a fond friend of all who she met. God bless

  • 1969jmd - by "her hits" you mean one, strictly she only had one 45rpm that reached the charts here in Oz and that was "Treasure Of Your Love" from 1965 on the CBS label, peaked at #16 on the Sydney 2UE Top 40. She released 9 other 45's between 1958 and 1973, every one of them on different labels. Coronet, HMV, Festival, Pye, Leedon, Hi Fi, Rex (As Margaret Hooper) etc... and to answer your question No. None of her songs have been released on CD, but I have a few at home if you want me to email.

  • I have her on a compilation CD singing "The Girl from Wolverton Mountain"

  • yes plz email me them very kind of you ,much appreciated.

  • Has anyone put her hits on cd yet?

  • laurel lee was a real star in her own right she married a fool who got a bigger fool involved in his devorice she lost her child because of that woman its a pity she has passed on
