  • @TruckerDesiree thank you, you're def. real. Who pays for the annual $20-30k in diesel when you're OTR? does the company just pay you more, how does that work? how many miles have/did you average(d) per year? is 100k+ a fair expectation for someone that never requests home time/accident free, etc. (a hardcore type)?

  • @VSSP sort of tongue in checck I talked about the calculations one should consider on the question of "How many miles" it is called "Steering Wheel Holders" , Trucking varies because of the economy, when people are buying, trucks are rolling, when they are not, they have downtime and this can be attributed also to seasonal buying. Legally you can only drive 11 hours per day and most company trucks are governed to not go faster than 68 mph therefore .... (con't)

  • @VSSP (con't) ... you should calculate that even in best case scenarios with regards to traffic there is a limit to how many miles it is possible to travel in a day, a month, a year and you begin to see a picture emerge on how controlled these wages are because of those two issues. Assuming you had a dedicated account like I was on witha GTD "avg" of 2400 miles per week (note word avg and always read this fine print) say 1 wk off per month 40 weeks x 2400 = 96000 miles at 27,5 cpm = gross

  • @VSSP then they next trick they play is called "Forced Per Diem" in which they take your gross pay and divide it in half and only tax half of it. It sounds good to someone who knows little about what this shell game really means which is they are not paying your Medicare , SSI, unemployment Insurance in full so if you need it you got screwed out of half of it and your earned wages appear as half of what you actually made. Also you can see the bonuses are needed to make that 37K

  • @crzzymnn911 It has everything to do with where you live and what you are expecting. Like I tell all new drivers, dont think you have to run OTR to get your expierience. There is a boat loads of local work driving trucks out there. It all depends where you live! I livein the northeast, it is very busy here. Hence ther is tons of local work. You could honestly make more hostling trailers at some local DC somewhere then driving over the road.

  • Everyone talks about how bad trucking is and what companys suck. So for the people really considering trucking how about telling us about the good companies.

  • @crzzymnn911 Well thats the point... It's total crapshoot with all of them so your best shot is to hope for the best and prepare for the worst by educating yourself beforehand.

  • @TruckerDesiree So what your basically saying is...dont get into trucking.

  • @crzzymnn911 Only if you can afford to make the sacrifices I am detailing and are prepared and educated of the lifestyle required and steps you need to take to protect yourself during training.

  • @TruckerDesiree Well I'm a single 21 year old guy that is in great shape. I have nothing holding me down such as a girlfriend or bills. The only thing I'm worried about is tuition for the CDL school and having to fight my own company for the money rightfully owed to me which shouldn't be the case with any job. Is there any other tips/info you can give me to get started? Your replies are much appreciated and you are helping me make a decision so thank you.

  • @crzzymnn911 Try to see if you can get a workforce voucher to pay your tuition. Look for a local community college program rather than a CDL mill because they are cheaper & teach you more. Be prepared by keeping all receipts and documentation because most people trust their company too much in the beginning & let little things slide. This is why in the end it is like a "death by a thousand cuts" situation. Have some basic accounting skills, email ready phone etc.

  • can I team with you please?!

  • @BradleySuarez Ummm ... No ... but thanks for asking

  • Ive driven for fedex ground in an International P1000 delivery van. It is a large vehicle and takes time to get used to but after 9 years. Im not deaf, but am hearing impaired, and was wondering since I cannot use a CB how are drivers dispatched and how is communication done? One recruiter at a job fair mentioned something about like an android tablet gadget for dispatch. Any feedback is appreciated.

  • @mbsk3lton There is a device called a Qualcomm that is like an onboard computer that you text back & forth & now some upgraded E-Log devices that also send this load assignment information as well are being implemented. With regards to your hearing impairment, check out the "Ask the trucker" website about this. I have a video clip of a group of deaf truckers from the trucking social media convention I have not posted yet but they have real grievences with FMCSA

  • Great video!! Explains a lot.. BTW, you look like Gretchen Wilson.. Lol..

  • @alsknwlf Thanks! I take that as a compliment too! Good Luck!

  • @MrRanman42 You are very welcome. Glad I could help!

  • I have been an O/O for 25yrs and the best part of your vid was about the pay and how they cheat you...lol So True!!!

  • @ding0925 Thanks for the comment. it means a lot to have an O/O say it here on this channel I have created for students who are planning to enter trucking. I have met a number of O/O who literally need their wives to go over every settlement sheet with a fine tooth comb to dispute all the errors in pay. This is a common practice because the percentage of people who take the time to do this is low by comparison, it;s just one more trick to cheat drivers out of pay

  • @MrRanman42 It sucks if you believe your recruiter and you believe your training carrier BS. If you enter knowing you will be a broke ass beeotch for the first couple years, won't get to go home when they say you will and you may have to deal with an infantile trainer on a power trip who will teach you very little OR if they are a good trainer they will expect MORE from you than you have been prepared for. It's really out of your own desire to beat this system set up for failure

  • i have been out here for 11 years i have never seen it so bad as it is now im sick of it i have been indepandent since i was 23 and im always geting underbid its realy pissing me off i feel old body hurts back aces left hand cramps up on me i think its arthritis

  • @arturdrozdz297374 I am sorry yo are experiencing this but also know the student truckers are unaware they are part of a system to crush the last Mom & Pop businesses left in America .. that is the Owner-Operators... They recruit people so uninformed about what trucking is and what it means to take pride in your job. Theses carriers are driving prices down, wages down and churning labor...it is to destroy cthe O/O and create an Oligopoly (control for a few)

  • CR ENGLAND SCREWD ME

  • @biutlere CR England has screwed MANY people & Dan Englland is the elected President of the ATA (American Trucking Association) , also part of the Mormon Mafia in Utah that protects scumbags like the England Family from ripping people off as a matter of standard operating procedure. The lawyer looking for people to provide information about CR England is named Robert Boulter in San Rafael California

Tel:. (415) 460-0100 x 112 Perhaps you should contact him about your story.

  • 14cpm are you fuking kiding me no wonder these fukers are puting companies out of buisness what a bunch of crooks

  • @arturdrozdz297374 Yes, When I started it was .14cpm and I went to .18 for 1-3 months, then .19 for 3-6months barely enough to eat , living on the road & pay for a cell phone. After that went up with my Hazmat endorsement & dedicated account but we got 3 pay cuts in 2008 that were not reinstated BUT the CEO got a raise. Covenant Transport continues to abuse drivers by monitoring their public comments in social media as do other carriers and then retaliating or "neutralizing"

  • shit fucking swift i got .26 mile lol fuck swift

  • @bglk102 .26 cpm is a hell of a lot better than what you make at @CovenantDrivers (Covenant Transport on twitter) This carrier lies & twists the facts about what driving for them is really like. Even after 3 years accident free with Hazmat endorsement I was making only 27.5 cpm , some drivers with 8 years experience accident free making only .18 cpm on reefer team .. that is ridiculous.. but they get away with it because ATA covers the labor abuse

  • how much money are you talking about.

  • @zoretta1 If everything was perfect and you got every nickel due to you & you acted as a micromanager to fight for every penny they try to rob or skim out of your pay with their payroll tricks, you would make about $35K to $37K per year. Private fleet only wants experienced accident free drivers (2 / 3 years experience) so you need to be abe to live on the road with the income and if you have a home or car payment most can't make it on this & survive on the road unless you live on PB&J

  • This is very true

  • You are a good talker and seem like you could be doing something better than driving a truck. Selling houses or insurance or something. I think you should be doing something else using your assets better.

  • @matt21080 Well I actually did pass the insurance license exam on my 1st attempt which has an 80% failure rate back in the late 80's and I am quite aware I have natural ability to command attention... I prefer to work alone though. I am not much interested in idle chit chat at the water cooler. I like to work , get it done & go do my thing... trucking suits my personality. But the BS does not ... so.... um... yeah... that's how this social media thing began

  • @TruckerDesiree of course, they promise you the moon , the stars and the sun. I'm all too familiar with it.

  • Let me tell you a true story.I use to drive for metropolitian trucking out of Paterson Nj.now back when I stated driving they didn't screen drivers if you could drive you was hired.metro hire this one drive once that had just got out of PRISION.HE WAS A RAPIEST.this drive drove for this compay for 2 mth before they found the BODIES FOR THREE WOMAN CUT UP AND STUFFED UNDER THE SLEEPER!YEAH how would you have like to team with that shit headand She RIGHT they do not match drivers

  • @mogges1 You Said " HE WAS A RAPIEST.this drive drove for this compay for 2 mth before they found the BODIES FOR THREE WOMAN CUT UP AND STUFFED UNDER THE SLEEPER!" , .... It has been one of my major issues with truck driver training that they expect female to team drive with men of unknown origins. There are a number of harassment cases in the news in the past couple years & also a number of stories linking serial killers to OTR trucking. This is an industry failure fueled by greed.

  • @TruckerDesiree yeah he was yet metropolitan didn't screen him.He came in for truck maintenance and the shop foreman and some other divers was trying to figure out what that smell was. and you know the old FLD freightliners, the bunk bed will raise up and there's all this storage compartment under the mattress.that where he put them.the woman he was killing was lot lizards.yes it is greed but you have all kind out here on American high way.now at metro if you and excon they will not hire

  • DAm girl what the hell you do'en in a Motel, now tell them he also gets your mile as well.he get 34 cent a mile for the mile he drive, PLUS he get the mile's the trainee drive also

  • Thank you...Thank you a thousand time for posting this...we appreciate you. Thank you for sharing and educating us newbies or to be newbies like myself. You are awesome....thanks again

  • @HomeBuyersofOhio You are welcome. I want people to be successful, that is why I began writing and making these videos. They are REAL life in this world. I am currently taking care of some family issues & will resume the truck driver co driver training experiences I had personally and what I learned to watch out for. You can read my unedited story on the "Ask the Trucker" website, it is called "A Day in the Life of a Lady Trucker" , it takes about 2 days to read in it's entirety. Good Luck!

  • what about buying your own truck right away, how do u get out of that if they were to pressure u to start your own leasing once u get out on the road by your self. what do u believe in this? do u think its best to do it right away or to just wait a year or 2.

  • @Slye90 Buying your own truck right away without learning the complexities of trucking is setting yourself up for failure. Stay away from lease Owner Operator training carriers because they will trick you into buying a truck and you will basically be a prisoner in the truck making only enough to pay them the lease payment and have a bit of money to eat. Google Truck Leasing Scams, there are tons of stories on the internet.

  • Could I get my CDl if I Have 2 Dwi's On my Driving Record~That's The Only thing On it. Cause I would love to be come a trucker!! Just asking! Thanks!

  • @MrRambo8510 If you have a DWI or DUI you will probably get sold a loan and told you CAN become a truck driver so they can get several thousand out of you. You may even get a conditional hire letter. A few years ago you would even get a job no problem but some carriers are looking at this now. BUT REMEMBER... if you get scammed into a loan you will still have to pay even if you don't get a job because they make money off these loans & the high interest.

  • Hello there...I'm going to start my CDL school next month and will be teaming with my husband. Your videos are amazing and very helpful. Thank you so much. You are apprecaited

  • @TheErinD22 Glad I could help you. Make sure to check out Allen Smith's website too called "Ask the Trucker: you tube won't let my put links in so you will have to google it. He also has many excellent blog talk radio archived shows for people who are just entering truck driving. Got to "Blog Talk Radio" and search "Truth about Trucking" Good Luck!

  • wery nice explained.... bravo !!

  • @jigibao Thanks for watching! There are complex manipulations in place to nickel and dime truck drivers out of the paycheck they work so hard to earn. This is esspecially true for student to understand before they enter this industry so they can plan ahead to be organized with their paperwork and budget properly.

  • @TruckerDesiree hallo, im trucking in europe end over here is not better at all... if you "as driver" dont stand strong in your shoes ,then the company wipes his "ass" with you... i know ,iw been there end learn my lesson fast... now im 22years on the road, end JESS if i could i would change this part of my life... only advantage in europe is paymant per hour, end not per kilometer as other "stupid" east european drivers....they work for low money....i would like to hear from you more...chers !
