@rjbishop2 5-Pole is more commonly known as a "Can" motor. 5 Pole is what you should look for when buying a locomotive, athearn cheaps out and uses 3-pole in their rtr line. They do use 5-pole in their genesis, but atlas uses 5-pole in their lower Trainman line. So once again I will say, Athearn Loco's Suck!!!!
No... the stock Kato HO SD70 just comes with basic lighting. By adding the Soundtrax Tsunami board, you get all kinds of options regarding sound and lights. I recently added flashing ditch lights (a very manually intensive effort), and will take a new video with the new changes that I made for this setup. It's really very cool.
Hi, Im just wondering what type of speaker you used for this setup and where/what modifications were required?

I'm not absolutely certain, but I believe this Kato is 5 pole skew wound-i.e. their "Genesis" drive if you will.

Did all the lights flash like this right out of the box? I have two of these and neither one flashes? These are cool locomotives, aren't they?

No- this is the Kato HO version of this locomotive.
