I love the slow swept parts at 2:30 - finally a guy who uses sweeps to make music rather than just widdly widdly widdly. This is probably my favorite DT song because it's got everything: the heavy parts, the ethereal vocals of Anneke, the melodic sweep parts, some of his most impassioned vocals. Great stuff - the whole package in one song.

@guitarguts666 Devin's using Open B tuning on this song (BF#BF#BD#). You can get a similar sound to this by using a Line 6 POD device and just tweaking with distortions, delays and reverbs.

I recommend 13 - 60 for string gauges... Could go even heavier like a 13- 62 for Baritone. You'' have to adjust your neck a couple times after a few days to compensate. Trust me, you're guitar will sound amazing and it will punch your ear pussies. I grew up in the same neighbourhood as Devin. So fuckin' proud of him. Its also cool because I get to hang out with people who have worked with him throughout the years, everyday!. He's an excellent engineer & it'd be great to learn from him. Genius...

Well, this song is in Open B, and I can tell you that Dev uses 10-52, or at least did at the times of a few different interviews. So I went out and bought some 10-52's and they work perfect for this tuning.

EAch song in Addicted sounds so ...'complete' to me. Reminds me of albums like Six Degrees... by Dream Theater, Sevendust's Seasons and Animosity albums, and Tool's Aenema/10,000 days - they all give me a sense of completion as a musical element, as in the concepts of their intentions were lacking nothing in their presentation and ...well basically the songs are fucking perfect... if one could say such a thing. Most musicians are perfectionists and, if given, they'd get nothing done.

Great song! I learned all of it except the arpeggio because my pinky fingers are fucked up. The 2 to 7 chord is super tough as well but I manage that one cause its slowish. Great song though and great fucking album, I can't wait for Deconstruction either!
