omg kamisha...you're inspiring...i remember when you only had like one or two of these boxes...if you grow enough fruits and veggies you can sell them at the local farmers market...i plan on doing that later on once i get enough money to purchase several earthbox boxes myself...good luck and God bless.
Yes it really does make a huge difference in the chore of it all. I sometimes have to actually look for things to do in my garden. Now that it is all setup, I spend about five minutes a day tending to it. I also just made it even easier by setting up a watering system. Stay Tuned!
U need to convert your round pots to self watering.
all u have to do is plug up the drainage holes , add 3 inches gravel , drill a 1/4 hole at top of gravel in the pot, put yard fabric on top of gravel , add a piece of yard hose as tall as the pot, then add your soil and plant your seedling.
I bought an Earthbox this week and I'm going to plant mostly squash but also one watermelon plant. I saw videos from your 2008 growing season and didn't seem like the watermelon did too well because of pests. So now I'm really scared. But how do worms get into an Earthbox?
Good for you on your purchase. The watermelon did not do as well as I would have liked. But pest attacks can happen wether you plant inground or in containers. They attacked the watermelon themselves as they were growing, they did not get inside the box. I am prepared though with my organic sprays. I hope they work!
OH wow!! Awesome garden! Are those self watering containers? What a great container garden farm you have! If people have apartments or condo's this is really the way to go, how inspiring!! Can't wait for the update.
Cool, I get that, essentially my raised beds are like that, except not self watering. :(
Have you considered maybe planting a mini-orchard, I did notice your very large yard, seems like such a good opportunity to get some long term stuff going. Even raspberries or grapes or something? Have you thought of doing something like that?
Oh absolutely! Unfortunately I am about to move to Florida this summer and must give up my yard space. I am trying hard to find a new home with as much yard space and its not as easy as one might think. Having a mini orchard is actually very much a part of my gardening dreams. I want to have pecans, orange, lemon, avacado, grapes and apples one day.
I'm happy to see your garden expanding. It looks nice and I can't wait to see them later on in the season. Last season we had 10 earthboxes and they produced so well, compared to what we got from plants not in earthboxes. That was up from 4 the year before that. We bought a bunch more boxes during the winter months, so this year we will be planting many more earthboxes. It is going to be a little farm basically. I'll post video of it once I get them out.
I just received my 4 EB's today and planted 3. I already disappointed that I dont have more boxes now that I have visited the web site and have found your videos. Cant wait to see how our gardens grow.
I am so glad you decided to give them a try. I know exactly what you mean when you say you already don't have enough. I am up to fifteen and still want more. Checkout the EB forum at their website they have lots of great info for newbies. If you have any questions just ask!
I hate to tell you this, but your box garden does not give the roots enough room to grow. You can yield some of the lima's but the peppers and tomato's are not going to survive in those boxes. They might survive but with that little amount of room they are going to eather grow to tall and leggy, or they are going to get disease in planters cause of the little amount of space. tomatoes need WAY more room than you are giving. I think 75% of what you got will not do well. It looks good though!
You should probably take look at my videos from last season. My tomato plants were as tall as me, very healthy, and very productive. I had great success with almost everything. This system is a proven winner by thousands of people who use it.
Hey there...I was glad to see a video from you this year. I just bought my first two Earthboxes and I'm excited to get started. What do you recommend that I start with and can you plant diffferent things in the same box.
Congrats on your new EB's, they are very addictive so it wont be your last! The EB forum has tons of great information for newbies to get started. So be sure to check it out. As far as what to start with it's purely personal. I recommend something you can't wait to eat! Mixing can be a little tricky. For instance if you want to mix tomatoes and bellpeppers, Normal planting would be 2 tomatoes and six peppers. So then you would plant one tomatoe and three bell peppers in the same box to mix.
I had no idea they had a forum ,so I'll have to check that out too. Since I only have two to start I was going to try and mix at least one box,so we'll see...Thanks for getting back to me :)
Yeah, any question you could have could be answered there. You can see all the different ways people set up their boxes and they even have a recipe section. Of course you can also ask me any question you have as well!
Wow!! That's quite a EB garden you have there! I'm really looking forward to seeing how much food you can grow using these. Please keep up the videos! :)
I purchase mine from the Earthbox website. The usual price is $ 30 per box and you can reuse them every year. You will find everything else locally so dont buy the kit with the soil and fertilizer just buy the box.
Like always a great video!!...everything looks great!!...I love containers, because my patio is made of concrete, so that is my only way to have a garden...by the way I bought one Earthbox today, like those you have, just a little bit bigger for 10 box...of course I don't live in the states...

Very orderly garden setup. I'm thinking it really makes life easy when you don't have to weed the garden. Lucky you! lol :)

Last week I have been working on a automatic watering system. I will have my entire garden set up to be watered when I am not even there!

Yes they are self watering. As you can see, I have plenty of yard space, but prefer these due to higher yields, and optimum growing conditions.
