This version seems to give the feeling that Brandish 1's intro music had. A story of mystery and misfortune, yet still dream like. Beyond rational understanding.
Whattghis version lacks is the bells at the beginning, if you ask me. Yes, they only play for a few seconds, but they give such a feeling to the overall song, that missing that few seconds makes the song sound less epic.
Terranigma was a perfect example of how much good music influences the gaming experience. This remastering is not better than the original, just similary good. But im not blaming anyone for this. It is extremly hard, if not inpossible to still inprove this masterpiece of a world map theme.
Terranigma is a perfect example of the golden age of video games. This game, among others released during the heady days of video games, was lost to me as a kid...it was not until my teen years I actually played this game and the other Gaia games. It was a great time of visionary ideas, awesome stories told through an exploding new medium. Magical tales that you'd never think anyone would ever come up with.....and I am sad those times are fading fast.
I like most Terranigma tracks but i actually like this tune better than the original. I think this one sounds better because half the songs in Terranigma just remind me too much of final fantasy music (ff4 being an exception). i wish they did each song with different instruments and style. And not the same flute instrument for the whole album. in the original version you can hear the 'flute like' instrument at 7 seconds (it is way too overused imo). Artist's preference tho i guess :) nice work!
This song is easily in my top 5 songs of all time. While the remix was very good, I'd have to somewhat agree with HisuroKun about its power. Maybe if it had a little more base behind the drums it could have the originals feel a little better.
I'm not trying to detract from the re-mixers awesomeness; it's a bitchin' remix of a great song. I guess I should have listened to this before being blown halfway across my town by the Crystal Blue remix. >_<
I'm not sure... the strings in the SNES version were more prominent, more... expressive, lively. Here, with the gentle vibrations of the harp, it definitively lays out a presence of an enchanted, magical world, but the SNES version gives the player the sense that the world is vast, showing sights unimaginable, horizons unfathomable; a grand, great world, an epic world. This version... does not convey that.
Not only that, but considering how oppressive and uninhabitable the underworld is, filled with frozen crystal structures and magma, the only place with any life the garden-cradle you just discovered wasn't the whole world, and tasked with climbing five remote towers scattered around this waste-scape to undo the damage you caused, more punch is definitely required.
did u know if a official symphonic remix version of this soundtrack is avaible, the ocr remix must made an entire remix project of this wonderfull soundtrack.
I really like it, but I feel like the foreboding quality from the strings is sort of lost.

A ost so epic, to the high of a awesome game. The perfection in videogames is a true, that emotive game is the prove. The best final ever.

Well and precisely put.
Indeed, this version seems to be the smaller brother of the two.

Those adjectives are (almost) exactly what I feel when hearing this ~
Yes I totally agree with you for the SNES part (and 99.99% for the remaining part)
You comment is just a good vocabulary lesson for me -v-

Great remix! Just one small criticism though, the song lacks the bass line of the original which I liked a lot.
