The size of the fish is relative to location. For example. Where I live anything over 32 inches is huge and if it's over forty it's a once in a life time. We can go out and catch 10 pike and the average size be about 24 inches. As long as you have fun!!!!! I like to fish for them because they are so aggressive! I like how you put the pike back in right away.. I dont even use a net, I just keep the fish half in water while I take the hook out and let it recover if its not able to swim away directly.

typically when you dont use bobbers(the floating thing) you either let the bait swim around or in this case the guy in this video was slowly retrieving it away until the pike struk it and thats when he set the hook. you dont always have to use a bobber when using live bait. :)

Big baits, minimum 4 inches, just try different lures and see what works for your particular water. Personally I prefer: jigs, jerk baits and spoons.

We catch a lot of Chain Pikerel here(we call them pike). They hit red and white spoons all day. That's all my grandfather ever used. Inline spinners are deadly too.

hey the reason that u amy not be catchin anything is that theres no fish or the fish hav been so over fished on spoons and frogs that they KNOW what they are and dont bite..... a awesome hook to use is a doubletail or singletail jig or any bigger jig thats rubber and see if that will intice a strike or use a spinner but use jig first...

i find the best bait for a pike is a strike king mini king spinner bait, green and light blue colouring, it glistens in the water, pike seem to like it and i'd recomend it to people who like fishing pike in areas such as the one fished in the video

Nice pike, We use creek chubs or sucker fish for pike in the great lakes. Fished lake Huron last summer and caught a nice 33 incher on a creek chub. Got a nice 37 incher on a x rap rapala.

i would suggest you read about it on a tips site. but i will offer a few tips.

they like to hide in the reeds and tree roots that grow along the edge of the water.

baby ducks in the area is a good sign.

use live bait like he was. his was a small pike make sure your line is decent.

try not to cast shadows on the water.

Oh yeah before i go, pike are very fragile fish, (dont be fooled by their hard fish reputation and teeth, more pike die through the simplest of bad treatment than any other coarse fish, they are very fragile fish). Do not go by the old beleive if letting a pike run for 5 minutes etc after its taken your bait, as all thatle happen is you bring the pike in and the hooks are vanished down in its gut. Strike within 10 seconds of a bite and you will hook nicely into the jaws, (easy to unhook). Bye \o

Use small bits of deadbait in a feeder like you would maggots when normal fishing to attract the pike.. (IT WORKS!) It isnt always nessesary but if you have a hard time catching pike but know they are there it can be a killer of a tactic. Theres alot to learn, i hope some of what i gave helps. as that can cause a pike to pounce if its sitting there examining a deadbait but unsure if it wants it, the predetor side of it will kick in when you move your dead bait... it doesnt always work but it can do quite often. Also try a dead bait with just a small weight and move it around the water like an injured fish ( called wobbling). Also if ledgering pop your bait up if weeds present, using many methods of pop ups for dead baits available.

Your better of rather than with carp fishing where we use new unused baits on waters that the carp havent seen before ( as carp become very hard to catch on baits they see often), with pike its not the same. If you use dead bait find out what small size fish is most common in the water you intend to pike and use that dead as deadbait... If you dont get bites for a while, pull your line from the reel half a foot every 15 or twenty minutes
