No, it's just the plain truth, and I obviously agree with it. The only one who should be ashamed is anyone who would do something like this and even worse, POST it!
This sucks! Here I'm thinkin' I get to here Flat & Scuggs and I hear some outta tune dude tryin' to sing. Sorry Pardner.....you just ain't cuttin' it.
Great. The real song playing with a poor recording of you singing it out of time. That's the kind of thing you should definitely share with the world. Well done.
They need to bury you cause you obviously died during this recording!!! What kind of low down person would screw up a good song like that.......and then POST IT???
Ol' Son....you need to go play the part of the Hog in this song so we can put you outta our misery....I'm sorry...but a yowlin' cat can sing better than you....Please don't ruin any more songs....
No. This is a sin against music. Overdubbing your shitty vocal onto an otherwise perfectly good recording is a mortal sin. This should NEVER have seen the light of day.
This song is one of my all time favorites - not only by Flatt and Scruggs but also by Merle Haggard. I will give you credit for keeping up the fast pace with your singing of this good old classic. I don't think I could do it. This song is known by just about every musician I've heard and is always a favorite - a great beat and especially good to showcase many a singer. Thanks. - Paula
@SCconfederate Why anyone would attemp to sing a song and be so flat and off key is unbelieveable. For God sake play it back to yourself before you put it here.
This song was written by Zeke Morris of the Morris bros. They were a group Earl Scruggs played with before he met Lester Flatt.
We say this is a Flatt and Scruggs tune because they popularized the song, and arguably recorded the best versions of the song on the Mercury label in the 50s and on the Carneige Hall album.
Also, its not "Doctor" Watson, it's "Doc." I've never heard or seen him refered to as Doctor on a cd, in a bio, nothing. Just pointing that out.
Thanks for dropping by, bro...this is an old Bluegrass tune from a pair of legends...remember the 60's tv show Beverly Hillbillies? They sang the theme song on it and appeared on the show from time to time...RT
Thanks, Dennis...appreciate you stopping by to give it a listen and comment...it was a lot of fun to do it and brings back a lot of memories...appreciate those stars, too....RT

Not too bad, except for the singing and the distortion in the recording.
The people on the record being used as a backup band are pretty good.
But this vocal is out of time with the record and off pitch, both.
In short, you can't sing, fella, not even close.
Not to be mean, but that's just the plain truth.
You need to keep your singing out of public until AFTER you get able to do it, not before, which is what you've posted here.

I left a comment, in fact I revised it a few times to be less harsh than the video really deserved, but I had to pause it while doing the comment.
So, I'm one that couldn't get all the way through it, not even to let it play while I wrote a comment.

SlimWhitman2803 2 years ago
@klink6677 what in the heck is a "salty dog"?
Written by Wiley Morris & Zeke Morris of N.C. it's about a bar that had a jar of the pickled sausages on the counter.
Patrons would eat one and say "Man that's a Salty Dog". Earl Scruggs
learned the song while playing as a teenager with the Morris Brothers Band.
The Morris Brothers knew the barmaid, "Sally", who served the Salty Dogs, thus the verse about her.
This is directly from a TV interview with The Morris Brothers in the 1970's.

The song was written by Wiley Morris & Zeke Morris of N.C.
Earl Scruggs learned it while playing as a teenager with the Morris Brothers Band.
It may have been a handed-down Negro Blues melody that the Morris brothers added their own words to and were able to get a copyright on.
