And regardless whether the 2003 Iraq War was justified or not, it still doesn't change the fact that Saddam was a tyrant of the middle east. The UNSC as a whole had to rule out of the legality of the war but we had a VETO there so it's not illegal.

Saddam murdered many people, I am not sure he did it because they were communist.
Saddam frequently made trips to Moscow in late 70's and bought many weapons from Soviet. Mig13 is a aircraft which was exclusively made in Russia. Saddam bombed Iran's city with this aircraft. Soviet \was supporting Saddam till ruling mullahs in Iran started to executed communist party Tudeh memebers in Iran. Soviet stoped supplying saddam. Saddam was about to fall. no more parts from Soviet.

...Ayatollahs in Iran wanted to conquer Iraq to reach Al-Ghodes. Saddam proposal for peace was rejected by Ayatollahs frequently. They wanted Iraq and then target was Israel. That was a time Ramsfiled walked in to stop spreading fundamentalism in Middle East and prevent mullahs conquer Iraq. Saddam had no choice to welcome U.S since Soviet stopped to aid him for weapons parts. U.S has always had interest in Kuwait or any country . Saddam should have known better.
