  • great song RIP Johnny Otis

  • I can't help but feel good

  • The two people who dislike this, would you post and give your opinion as to why?

  • @SnukumBear1 Who really cares? They are just being silly.

  • @wendyful04 yep

  • I think the two dislikes are from the Brother's Johnson.....jealous!

  • OMG I knew I heard this song before the Brothers Johnson version. Thank you YouTube for clarifying this!

  • Nice tribute !!

  • This is retardedly good. Fucking macrodimensional bliss

  • That guitar in the second half of the song gets me every time :D

  • God do I love that guitar riff at the end, makes me feel like I'm flying above clouds on a sunny day.

  • @eexot I feel you on that!!!

  • @son8of8vazkor lol!!!

  • we love SHUGGIE OTIS! thanks for the lovely tribute!

    always,

    amy

  • Another song made famous by someone else - The Brothers Johnson on this one. This kid, Shuggie Otis, son of Johnny Otis, wrote and recorded this when he was about 17 years old and I believe he played all the instrumets except drums. I have the album somewhere - 'Freedom Flight'. Classic.

  • WOW Ive waited almost Ten years to hear this song again.. I heard it in a buddies car once and have been seachin for it since! no joke

  • 2:20

  • @2:20

  • My favorite song of all time. The 70's were awesome because of this song and you Shuggie! Thank you from the bottom of my "boodgidie boogidie shoes"

  • EXTREMELY underrated guitar player and a great song writer, Shuggie Otis rules.

  • The one person that disliked this needs to get roundhouse kicked.

  • @ominousred They did it just to do it. lol

  • The music plays, I sit in for a few....

  • lol it scared you ?....nice video

  • this has such a Los Angeles feel. anybody from LA knows what im talking about

  • Great song! I love the lyrics, it's so original.

  • Great music

  • amazing peice of music

  • I dread to think what substances this kid was on at 16. Seriously lysergic lyrics but beautiful.

  • @Chimpfinga suggie was one of my friends back in the late 60's early 70's... he wasn't a druggie... music was his drug of choice....

  • UNBELIEVEABLE!

  • I am a Hip-Hop artist who is friends with his son, Lucky. We are about to collab & make his dad proud!!

  • He wrote that at 16?!?! Unbelieveable. It's up there with my all-time favourite songs, too. Heard it in Starbucks (they have some cracking stuff there - a lot of cool 70s soul) and had to get the name of it. I LOVE the latter half. Addictive.

  • @darrensilverman73 The whole album is killer - no filler. He was a prodigy. Check out Freedom Flight, Me and My Baby or Purple by Shuggie @ 16 or 17 years old. Amazing.

  • @cs868 Yeah, reminds me of Stevie Winwood. Wrote I'm a Man & Gimme Some Lovin' at 16 or 17...

  • i dont like it the brothers jhonson sound much better

  • Please rate this up and favorite it so I don't have to beat the shit out of some auto-tune moron that tries to tell me this song is Akon.

  • @JimboTHC [[[ thank you ]]] ... even though Quincy Jones produced both the Brother's Johnson version and the Akon version, imo the Akon version is awful and made to SELL ... these two versions are AMAZING !!!

Simple and pure music without a wallet in anyone's mind.

  • Not saying im like him but things are simalar between him and I...I love music and I have so many ideas in my head and im getting into music.. he looks simalar to me and my grandpa.. and Im 16 but there is so many people that are talented at making music that I dont know if I could even get big ..Not even sure I want to get big im to laid back and shy. I guess Ill just make music on the side for fun and I love 2:17 to the end.

  • brilliant musical mind, I can't begin to imagine putting this together at 16, as I recall he also performed all the instruments himself, makes you wonder what music he had in his head that was never recorded, where are today's Shuggies?

  • The best ending to a song since Boogie Night!!!

    MAGICAL!!!

  • I watch this every time I'm on line. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • the man!!

  • Happy Sunday....to all..!!!

  • @ZJProz : )

  • Great song!

  • So it wasn't The Brothers Johnson that only performed this song. What year was this? It sounds like 1972.

  • @tyrese3745, honi, Shuggie didn't just perform, he wrote!! Yeah, I think it was '72...

  • truely awesome song thanks for the upload :)!

  • thank you for uploading this beautiful track

  • Masterpiece,,,,,,,,

  • A masterpiece that doesn't age.

  • THANK YOU! This is wonderful.

  • Thank you so much for this tribute! I now know the immensely talented musician & writer behind this gorgeous song. And thanks to you, Shuggie Otis- for one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
