  • He was the first superhero ever made, and is still the best superhero we have today!

  • Best. Superhero. On. The. Planet.

  • How many of you are ready to help me sock old Adolf on the jaw?

    *crickets*

  • who cares about the oscars guys, besides ever heard of the Rock hall of fame, most of the inductees aren't even rock oriented and yet they go in despite having nothing to do with rock n roll's history (heck even Metal, a genre with close ties to rock that slowly became a genre on it's own after has no say in this even if Black Sabbath and Metallica are in) but anyway as the sex pistols have said, it's a piss-stain, not even worth looking at in the rock n roll community anyway

  • Leg leggy leg leggy leg

win the war with the legs

  • Anyone know the exact genre of this kind of music? Ya know, like the old American propeganda type sound?

  • @FalsetOfficial guess you'd call it 1940s vaudeville?

  • Those dancing ladies in the movie....they gave me wood....I admit that.

  • @Storyboardbrasil Because we're proud to be Americans. Despite our country's flaw, despite our inept politicians, and despite what political ideology Americans follow, those aforementioned things aren't what make our country great. It's what our country is founded on! Freedom, justice, and the American Dream!

  • @adare84 I could make a snarky, cynical comment here... but I'm not. I'm British and I know what it is to be proud of my nation and what we stand for

  • One of my favorite segments of the film.

  • They need to do this on stage at the next Oscars!

  • I like it. Even though I don't think it's meant as serious as some of you take it :-)

  • @Wiasha I think it's more the feeling the song gives us. It has a very patriotic feeling to it that makes us feel proud to be Americans. At least that's how I see it.

  • @ronvins I'm not American, but this song is still just pure joy. Shame on Oscar for not nominating it!

  • i hate the communist freedom-hating media. Go America!

  • it seems like the Oscars should have nominated this just so they could have a cool dance sequence!! Oh wait the Oscars wouldn't want something this cool. Never mind!

  • Why don't we have real shows like this anymore? This is patriotism with class. Show this to every American and they'll be buying war bonds left and right!

  • this is so much better than the oscar nominees.

  • How the Academy didn't nominated this song?! Buh... Worst nominations in a long time!

  • this wasn't nominated for best original song?!! why the hell not?! there's only two fucking nominations!

  • The fact that this was not nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar is reason enough to not give a crap about the Oscars this year.

  • @joebove4 so true

  • @joebove4 The guy who composed this song has 'won more oscars than any other living individual' (wikipedia). I'm sure he'll get over it.

  • @rofltroll9000 Really.?! Well I am a girl and I do like boys.!

  • I think the fact that this is cheesy in a old-timey fashion is what makes this so entertaining, That, and it's so patriotic.

  • thumbs up if you like killing communists, nazis and islamic terrorists

  • The Independance Day movie reminded me of this film, it might gone well with it.

  • There should be a Broadway musical of Captain America, and this song should be included!

  • @rofltroll9000 Ummm hint hint COMIC book movie .?! Of course it didn't happen in WWII the comic book was INVENTED in WWII .!! Maybe you should shut the hell up and think before you fucking speak .!!!!!

  • @rofltroll9000 what kind of idiot thinks this is anything but fiction? no shit this didn't actually happen!

  • @rofltroll9000 Are you fucking retarded?

  • @kdesmond101 His username says all you need to know.

  • @kdesmond101 are you fucking gay?

  • @rofltroll9000 You must be new here.

  • Without a doubt the greatest "WTF?" moment in a movie ever. A broadway musical number in Captian America? Of course we need one!

  • I come here because of a review courtesy of comic-guy Linkara, since I never saw this film (which I have heard nothing but praise). I do a little research and... HI MR. MENKEN. WHATCHA DOING HERE? Why is Alan Menken just really fucking good at writing really catchy music that makes it fun for the lyricist to make lyrics for?

  • This song sounds old. But it sure is catchy. ; )

  • CORRECTION: The lyric is "Who woke the Giant that napped in America?" referring to Isoroku Yamamoto's "sleeping giant" quote. USA!

  • @ChangCatch Reznov and Dimitri are coming to help you to defeat him!

  • Each bond you buy is a bullet in the barrel of your best guys gun

  • STALWART, STEADY AND TRUE!

  • The Alansl have brought us the spirit of a 1940s comic book on the big screen!

  • Captain America was made after Disney bought Marvel and I don't know if Disney had any input on it, but I will say that it really felt like one of the classic Disney films. If the film had had the Disney castle logo at the front of it, it would not have been out of place at all. If you don't believe that, watch The Rocketeer sometime. Joe Johnston did that film for Disney in the 90s and it's very similar in tone and style. I think the similarities are deliberate and may be why Marvel chose him.

  • this is a sign of Marvel going Disneyfied

  • @ImTheDVDMan1

Not really. This was only done because Joe Johnston hired Alan Menken to write this patriotic song. Disney said they were gonna distribute future Marvel films that have expired for most other companies, but they're not gonna make it a kiddy Disney superhero film. It'll still be as epic as its buildup films.

  • @KTKomedy2813 oh thats alright then lol even if distributed by disney it'll still have the Marvel expectations

  • @adrian16dff Don't be mad at us because we have something to be proud of.

  • This song makes you feel the desire to punch a fascist.

  • @Janograd and a Communist too!

  • @Janograd Makes me want to kill Commies actually.

  • Nazis hate commies, that must mean your a nazi!

"Cuts off NSALP121's with a disc shaped vibranium shiled"

  • @ImperatorZor Commies are about three times worse than Nazi's. Not to mention Nazi's had class.

  • Wrong, Communists never built Auschwitz or set out as a goal to exterminate millions of people and enslave the survivors to a "Master Race". Go to your library and read up on the third reich you brainwashed idiot.

  • @ImperatorZor Auschwitz? I raise you a Gulag, where instead of starving due to food shortages, you freeze to death and starve. Goal of Extermination? I give you the Haavara Agreement, where the Germans paid for the Jews to return to Palestine. Enslavement Plan? Forced labor was used extensively by the Allies after World War 2, and by the Soviets before, during, and after the war. I know history Zor, you should probably ready a book that isn't propaganda.

  • Over the course of some six years, the Nazis killed over thirty people million people (holocaust victims, soviet civilians and other eastern ones). The high estimate that historians beleive in in regarding Stalin, over twenty six years are in that area, with a nation that had crop failures, damage from war afterwards and bad agricultural policies. Not every soviet leader was as bad as Stalin.

  • @ImperatorZor Sources on that 30 million? The Highest number of dead due to the Germans is 12 million. War violence is not the fault of a single government, and if it was the Allies would be responsible for the death of MILLIONS of Germans, even after the war. The Soviets raped and plundered Eastern Germany, while the Allies in the West plundered and bombed the rest. After the war millions of Germans died in Gulags and in Concentration camps set up by the Allies.

  • @NSALP121

dont try to defend the nazis. after the war, the allies had the germans walk though the camps the had made (guilt). Im not going to say commies arnt bad, there horrid, but they arnt as bad as the Nazis

  • @jacobcorbin1 Aren't as bad? Ask any Eastern European, and they will tell you they prefer Hitler. Even the Poles will say that. I know this because I have been too every Eastern European nation save Belarus. If we made the Germans walk through the camps, we should have made the allied citizens walk through the cities of Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, Konigsberg, and the various other cities where thousands died from rape, torture, mutilation, and burning.

  • @NSALP121 Until they found out what the Waffen SS was.

  • @ImperatorZor Not sure if you are aware of this or not but....The W-SS was a combat branch only. They are, quite literally, regarded as heroes in Eastern Europe. And before you are saying that they didn't let non-"Aryan's" in, I would remind you that African's, Slav's, Balts, Arab's, and a few Jews were even members.

  • @NSALP121 I despise Communism booth as an ideology and in practice, though I don't think it's fair to lump the western Allies like America and Britain in with the Russians when talking about crimes during WWII. The bombings of cities like Dresden, not to mention Nagasaki and Hiroshima on the other side of the world, were unfortunate measures we had to take to weaken an aggressor state(s), whereas what the Communist leaders did during and after the war was simple, wanton destruction.

  • @NSALP121

Both regimes were awful, but for different reasons.

The Nazis were aggressive and brutal in their tactics, up-front about kidnapping, stealing and killing anyone they thought dangerous or bright, driven by religious and racial bigotry of the worst kind. However, they had little difficulty in economics.

The communists were less up-front about their brutalities, but they did still commit brutalities of the same type and order. On top of this, they had no clue what made economics work.

  • @mytruepower2 To be fair, the only reason the Nazis' fascist economy worked was because they invaded neighboring states and forced them to sell their goods to them at ridiculously low prices. Also, if my memory serves me, before Hitler began the war, artificial price fixing nearly led the already crippled German economy to collapse.

Though, yeah, Marxists have no idea how economics worked.
