I've worked on developing electronic jewelry and the key for me is not to be "geeky" about it -- not to have electronics for the sake of electronics or "high-tech", but because it actually enhances one's appearance and style.
That's exactly what you achieve so perfectly with your work: The dress itself is already beautiful. But adding the EL string - and right at the color border, so that it appears to be recessed behind the black material - PLUS the pulsating... it's absolutely brilliant!
Thanks for the comments! I bought EL wire and a sound driver from Cool Neon. It runs off of a 9V battery. I don't know how long it lasts aside from > 8 hours. Battery and driver pack measures ~ 3.5" x 2.5" x 1.5". They are placed on the back of the dress, which you won't notice much if I'm wearing a jacket. Electronics are removable, so the dress can be washed.
The light doesn't change colors. Its brightness is however controlled by the sound driver that detects ambient sound intensity.
Very original and wonderful! Can't help but wonder how long one charge can keep it going and where the power source is hidden and what size it actually is. The best part about it, is that it reacts to music and not just glows all the time. Yes it's ideal for clubbing. Once again, really really pretty!
