Hey, I'm planning to buy ibanez sr505, but I heard that it is unbalanced, meaning that the neck is too heavy in comparison with the body of the guitar and it weighs the guitar down, which makes it uncomfortable to play - is it true?
Hi dude, thats not true. I am a owner of SR 505 for few monts, i play concerts with it in a metal band, lot of headbanging & moving at concert & the bass do not move a bit. By my opinion its not true :)
@Rogoza88 i would just suggest to find a shop that carries them so you can try it out yourself before buying. First, before sound, comes comfort and playability. The bass can sound awesome, but if you can't play it then what's the point?
Might be the lighting, but your bass looks a bit darker then the pictures online... is this the case, or is it simply little lighting in the your room?
All the light is coming from the window to the right of the frame. That being said, it was darker than other 505 or 506 when i bought her. Plus i had polished it right before the video. I have sold her, but the ones that i see at store's are all lighter.
A brand new 505 costs $579.99, not $800. The Ibanez SR 755 (which is basically the 505 with a walnut top and looks amazing) costs $800. It's still a sweet deal though.
oops. i meant to say sr535, i didn't think there was a difference besides the finish until i looked behind the headstock then i was like whoa. 535? i guess its has a better frequency response or something, i really dont know.
The only difference is the 535 has a Maple/Rosewood neck and the 505 has a Jatoba/ Bubinga neck. Other then that, they're identical (except for the finish).
See more of my 505 and 506 video's. The one with 506 of Jordon playing has more light. So more of a red look. And i really like this bass. It has the hottest pick ups i have ever played on. Long way from my 2 old Fenders.
thanks for the invite... these pickups make my crappy 15 watt fender frontman sound good, i need to upgrade though i have had that amp since i started.
so this IS the sr505? i know it is a wood finish but on videos it almost looks purple. thats pretty coll. im getting one in the next two days. sr505 is the best bass out there!
She was a good one,but might as well make the 6 string jump. Can not afford to own two new basses. String spacing is more what i like over the closer SR506. Maybe some day get a 5 string just to beat up on the heavy songs. And i can jump around with and slap the shit out of it. Give a Warwick or another brand a try.
if your bassplaying was as cool as your muscles that would be great

Well the neck isn't the lightest, but I have no difficulties playing it, so it's fine.
