Your right in what you say about the best speakers for computers aren't actually for computers but for people hwo aren't professional musicians or composers etc etc these speakers are very good for home use in a composition sense and very capable of sound quality which is more than what you need for the regular home use or gamer/easy listener.

I'm a profesional of 12 years and have performed live at some of the world largest venues and concert halls. i also have a vast experience of music composition so listening to specific sounds is a perticular skill of mine. a skill i would say and many of my peers would say is of a high standard and i can tell you for a fact that those speakers are of a very high sound quality. BOSE have a very destinct sound that regular people just don't have the ears to hear. namely YOU.

Pay no attention to audio reviews by computer and techno geeks. They have poorly trained ears, no experience with quality audio and simply don't know what they are talking about.

Experienced ears are rare and such people have had a broad range of experience with live music and high end audio components over the course of many years.

People who sing the praises of Bose speakers generally have very little experience with audio. Way too much money for mediocre to lousy products who's price should be about a quarter of what they charge. The Bose cubes are some of the most dreadful and overpriced speakers I've ever heard.

I bought these speakers a couple of months ago and I compared quite a few speakers before I got these. I thought they sounded pretty good and set up was easy. You do need to turn off any sound enhancements and turn the computer volume down or the highs will be too strong. I have noticed a lot of people saying it doesn't sound good or some other speaker is better. The problem is these other speakers I could never find in a store to hear them. My 2 cents

I was eagerly looking to buy the companion 5 after reading all the reviews. Then I went to the store to test it and guess what? DISAPPOINTMENT. I sat there thinking that ok....soon I will hear the punch and then realize what Bose is all about but I kept waiting and waiting, asked the store keeper to change the song....no difference. The treble was EXCESSIVE and the sound was very tinny and sharp, unlike a balanced sound that even some cheap Harmon Kardon can provide. In Short, Dont Buy a NAME!!!

Well after a few disappointing day with the speakers I sold them as they sounded awful. I went to my local hifi store and they hooked my up a pair of B&W 684 fronts and 685 rears retailing for just over $2000...price was not an issue for me. However, sound was.
