  • I was 1 of the marshals on the 3rd crash, mikkelson, we commented on that rock saying you watch a car hit it, and true to word !

  • Mikkelsen only collected his new '06 Focus (the car in the video) the week before the rally. Tt was his first rally in that car.

  • I don't really see the point in having a big stone so close to the road. I heard that Grönholm crashed into the same stone in 2003 so I guess they want it to be there. I wonder if they replaced it after Mikkelsen's crash moved it.

  • Gronholm crashed out on the tarmac exactly opposite the gravel road section.

    A big rock next to the road is because that stage runs through epynt which is a militery range so theres big rocks everywhere.

  • I believe thats the waste gate for the turbo

  • In this case it is not a turbo neither transmissions. This is the sound of differentials.

  • Pretty sure it's the turbo waste gate. Had it all explained to me once why it makes that noise but I didn't really understand many of the words being used, all a bit technical.

  • it's the air on the turbine blades spinning back on itself which causes the flutter :)

    because they don't use BOVs, since the turbos have a life span of only a round at a time :)

  • thats the ALS - anti lag system. It keeps the turbo on load when you release the throttle.

  • A big stuff up in the notes on that one. See how sometimes safety items actually create crashes as shown here and in Japan. That set of corners has claimed a few top names as well. Gronholm and Passonen?
