this is stupid. Im 15 and know the dangers of contacts all the online stores I've looked at have their papers and are totally legal this chick wasnt smart about it so I cant bring myself to feel bad about her eyes plus you shouldnt drive with contacts anyway just wear your glasses there easy enough
they were not prescription so it is her fault for buying them.i am going to buy contacts for halloween and i am going to the doctor to see what is my eye power.
ALSO as rule of thumb NEVER assume that ones you order online or in a store are "STERILE" always assume they need cleaned first even the instruction suggest cleaning them and letting them soak in the PROPER STORE BOUGHT SOLUTION for 24 hours before wear or at LEAST over night ... they are your eyes so if it doesn't feel right then take em out ..... once they are in and adjusted you should barely notice they are there
I'm going to have to agree she could not have used them correctly to "all of a sudden" been sliced in the eye its likely they were either inside out OR they were not properly cleaned they may have even had something sharp in them I have a astigmatism and I can use the regular size EVEN tho they don't TECHNICALLY fit me YES its a risk but I can were them for about 2 hours before they begin to bug me IN which case I take them out simple steps with soft lenses should not cause that sudden damage
well they had to have hurt her previously to her cornea just randomly "being sliced" by the soft contact. if you ever feel pressure or disconfort you always take them out. and did you see her contacts? they were really fake looking and crappy so there
The REAL problem here is that US companies pay 2 cents to make the contacts in China and then charge US consumers $200 for a pair. That's what forcing people like myself to buy overseas, because it's way cheaper, mine were just $40 - my friends were $25. It's just like when people order their prescriptions from Canada. We are tired of American GREED. Charge us a fair price!
I bought a pair from overseas and wore them, never wore contacts and they were fine. You have to RESEARCH where the contacts come from. not just go to some "novelty shop" and buy them for $5 and assume they are okay.
That and it seems highly unlikely they cut her cornea, she had to do something to make that happen if they were just soft lenses. its nearly impossible to do with soft lenses.
the problem with the advice at the end is that fitted colored contacts are REALLY expensive. Why use all that money just for Halloween? That's why people just buy them at costume stores cus they're cheap. Personally, it isn't worth the risk, just get cool glasses if you want your eyes to look weird.
I have 4 colour lenses at home, I wear them every month or every two weeks for the past 4 years and I never had any problems. I really don't believe that you can do that much damage to your eyes if you keep them clean and put them corretly. Who knows what that woman did with he lenses causing that infection.
