  • I was there right after the storm, it looked like a bomb went off

  • "We're gonna have to get out of here!" Haha, shoulda considered that BEFORE the storm arrived.

  • i feel sorry for the camera men that shot this

  • I was 15 when this hit my house, we didnt have power for 15 days.

  • this hit on my 4 birthday on aug 13 in orlando Florida, now i have been thru 4 and i got used to them

  • haha this was a fun storm

  • is this how bad hurricane irene is gonna be?? i mean atleast this was 5 miles.... irene is gonna be 430 miles...wide

  • @XoXoNajjuXoXo the smaller the eye the faster the winds, almost like when you were a kid on a swing spinning, when you pull your legs in, you rotate faster

  • @XoXoNajjuXoXo no, hurricane irene is going to be a cat 2, charlie was a cat 5- a horrific storm

  • the guys who shot this video have brass balls and they knew how bad it was going to get get, my house went through the south west eye wall of the hurricane and the roof almost flew of my house..I was in inner most side of my house just shaking for 15 to 30 minutes seemed like a couple of hours though.....one or 2 in lifetime experience!!

  • I was outside with a blanket with my friend catching the wind in Cocoa Fl. By then it was like a cat 1 or 2. Still lifted us off the ground about 8 feet in the air and dragged us another 30. Fun times.

  • @fxsaberboy meee too lol

  • I was in Winter Park when Charley came through. Put a 100-year-old tree in my kitchen, and another 100-year-old tree fell on us but hit the spot of the roof where there was a retaining wall. We were told later it was a tornado that spun out from the storm. Scary shit.

  • I was in an airplane when all this happened -__-

  • i was on holiday i was like 9 years old and i remember being locked away in are hotel room, a random bloke had chained himself to the railing outside and videoed the whole thing.

  • Wow Thats some Amazing footage! Scary to think what mother nature can do!!

  • i was gettin a BJ when all this came thru my neighboorhood in Englewood FL

  • doesn't anyone in punta gorda know what a trash can is?

  • Comment removed

  • those are really strong trees, thats all i see still standing

  • From about 0:55 to 1:05, I'd have been crapping my pants.

  • ouch charley bit my finger...stop it charley

  • Damn u were right there when it made landfall

I went thru Charley, Frances, and Jeanne when I was in 7th grade I live in central florida so it wasnt much of an issue cept the power going out

Charley was most powerful, my neighborhood was a mess My cousin's giant tree in their back fell beside their house they were lucky it couldve fell thru their dining room & Frances cause their giant front yard tree to collapse they were lucky again it couldve fell into their house, it fell onto the road

  • We were in Sanford Airport, trying to get back to the UK when this hit.

Foundations were shaking, windows bowing in - pretty crazy (first time in a hurricane, hopefully last!). I think some light aircraft were severly damaged too.

  • i live in port charlette FL when this happened off of warne ST

  • i got stuck in this on i went for my birthday and didnt even check the weather

  • my sister lives in Pt. Charlotte, she was vacationing in Alaska at the time Charley hit Florida! She really had a good time in Alaska. Fortunately her home had little damage. She still lives in Pt. Charlotte .

  • the eye was only about 5 miles wide so if you were in the eye then you were one of a very few to experience a daytime CAT 4 eye. According the the NHC the winds at landfall were near 130 knots. That's about 150 mph.

  • @photog481 hurricane charley was a Cat 4 with winds up to 150 MPH

  • @Marianmichael100 ...or 241 KPH

  • the eye was amazing it got soo silent, i remember walking outside when it was all over and my whole neighborhood looked like a jungle

  • WAHAHAHA i went threw tht hurrican in port charlottee :3 lived by the hospital and port charlottee middle

  • insane

  • The sheet of metal at 0:26 could take your head right off.

  • There is no doubt about the power of hurricane Charley. Then there is the comparison of this storm to other hurricanes which came before and after such as Katrina. However, Ivan, Katrina, Rita, Wilma and Ike where much larger storms at landfall than Charley and with them came the most deadly force a hurricane can bring, STORM SURGE! I would love to see video from where the eye wall of these storms made landfall along with their surge. It's doubtful the person would have survived.

  • 0:01 ok this doesnt seem to bad.

0:06 ok now its getting a bit rough

0:28 a debrie peice just hit our car,at leats it still isnt to bad

    0:33 OH COME ON!

  • Wow! What amazing footage! Do you know what the wind speed was?

  • Das teil da schwebt ja kurz 0:26

  • mm good times

  • I survived hurricane charley!

  • Hurricane Wilma and Charley...went through them both...only one word to describe them...awesome.

  • man i was in this hurricane when i was 6 years old and it was krazy!!!!

  • @STONEKILL3A go to school little 12 year old and learn that crazy is not spelled with a k.

  • i lived in arcadia when charley hit, the whole town was pretty much leveled

  • Hurricane Charley destroyed Charlotte Harbor, FL as a powerful category "4" on Friday 8/13/2010. X-(

  • I lived in Fort Myers at the time... I was without power for 9 days!

  • Charley got my town too. I never want to see another storm like that one. 2004 was a bad, bad year.

  • damn hurricane charley was craaazy! i live in palm bay and we didn't get winds any higher than 40 mph. i think this hurricane only spent about six hours in florida right? that was a tremendous debris field. building material everywhere! thanks for being brave enough to film it.

  • One of the best hurricane clips ever shot. Great, great job!!

  • i survived this .. its horrible

  • i like so much

  • yes it is the corner of Olympia and Hwy. 41.

  • I thought that was Olympia St. ... it took out my insurance agents office! Allstate was "blown away".

  • I believe i can fly..... 0:29

  • again

  • this hurricane is so strong

  • 0:33 was like hell. the sheet in 0:29 was like kicked by a poweful and invisible force. very strong sustained winds in this video. awesome.

  • I was in this goin to north Carolina outer banks we were crossing a bridge

  • its like the day after tomorrow

  • this is awesome dude!!!

  • Hurricane Charley was the meanest storm I've been in no doubt about it. NHC write up on Charley had the winds near 150 mph at landfall. Stronger than even Katrina.

  • @photog481 Katrina wasnt strong because of her wind speed, it was her size and the amount of Storm Surge she produced.

  • @Nightfire469 i agree

  • i remember this day well. ive survived it all. earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes and fires.

  • charlie blew off the storage house that we had in the backyard lol and shingles flew out of the roof and he almost open the door to our house i was so fricking scare he was dangerous but im glad hurricane katrina didnt came..coz it would had been a diff story ...lol

  • i wen through the eye of charley it was a lot of fun, good times

  • It was actually at cat 4 but at the outer edge of cat 4. a couple more mph and it would have been a cat 5

  • Any chance they reclassify Charley as a Cat. 5??

  • yeah it was a five. i was living there when it hit it was insane. a lot of people are saying it was a 4 but thats only cause they didn't pay close enough attention

  • It was almost a category 5, winds maxed out at 150mph sustained but it was 6 mph short

  • all these hurricanes have names:

    hurricane ike

    hurricane charley

than watch next one will be

    hurricane bob

    hurricane george lol jk

  • RollWithItVideos i bet man...i was in ft myers .when it hit. ..i bet it was crazy there...Punta Gorda got trashed...i had to go out side because the hood on my camaro popped up, i only weigh about 165, i got thrown about ten feet...but i got the hood on my car latched and dipped back inside..it was crazy but fun it that makes any sence.

  • I was near Sanibel island, about 25 miles SW of this, cowering in a bathtub. Scariest hour of my life. I never thought I was going to die, but I was sure that everything outside would take months if not years to repair. The condo two doors down didn't have storm shutters and was completely gutted.

  • yeah it was a -FUN- huricane i remember standin out side when it came thru my neighborhood and watching the big pine trees snap and fly away - drivin thru ppls yards cause all the roads were blocked with fallen trees - and then the dreaded 3 week wait to get power - gas stations, grocery stores, restauraunts were all closed for about a week and a half so all we had to eat was can food and army rations! had one hellofa cookout though! had to cook it before it spoiled (lol)

  • esta chido el videooo

    amo los huracaness

  • I never actually saw what the Hurricane looked like since I was too busy hiding in a closet praying to God the house would hold. But this was filmed a few miles from my house. All I can say is !@#$!

  • it was actually like the third strongest recorded winds of a hurricane during land fall on the US

  • I was staying in Kissimmee when it hit. It knocked the end of our hotel out. It was a disaster area, the National Guard arrived the next day. Sandford airport was wrecked and it took us four days to get a flight home to UK. I was so scared when it was over head.

  • we were on holiday in florida at the time of this hurricane, and a tree snaped and fell on our rental car, u know the thing about rental car insurance being a scam, wel its not , thank god we got, but the experience was quite good because i had never seen such strong wind

  • my friend and I went down there after the storm to help clean up and repair. Tropical storms and Cat 1's are good fun but nobody gets spared in a cat 4. This was supposed to come up Tampa Bay and wipeout my town. we were all prepared and already evacuated, Punta Gorda was completley caught off guard

  • I was in the 8th grade when this storm hit. an AMAZING experience.

  • wow!! thats like anythin can hit u

  • it was actually a 5 when it hit and then it bounced back and forth between a 4 and a 5. it sucked. the whole town was messed up. martial law and everything. no power for over 3 weeks. i lost my entire house.

  • it was a strong category 4 when it hit, never went to 5.

  • My sisterinlaws house was smashed flat

  • you didnt film this, LOL

  • HOW DO U KNOW??

  • it was one of those things where I was lucky enough a piece of debris didn't hit me.

  • wow i wonder what it looked like after the hurricane.damn how did u even survive that
