Ringo joined in August '62; this was recorded in December '62. They had already recorded the "Please Please Me" single, and knew they were on the brink of stardom. Even though the sound quality is pretty dreadful, I really like nearly all the songs on the Star Club bootleg, especially compared to the Decca sessions just one year earlier.
@WisMiss101 it's awesome to compare the songs with pete best with the ringo stuff, so you can appreciate how much the band improved with a good drummer!
@kainthevampireduck Sorry, Dear, but the vast majority of the time The Beatles were improving and growing stronger in Hamburg, Pete Best was their drummer. As much as we all love Ringo, Pete was quite adequate to back Paul, John, and George (and Stu early on) as they went from garage band to show stopper.
@edvadojunk oh, come on, listen to the decca tapes, the tony sheridan record or the "love me do" and "besame mucho" audition for EMI... pete best couldn't do even the bare minimum stuff to quialify him as a drummer.
take the tony sheridan record and listen to the songs where the other band plays.
"the beat brothers" sounded very "50s-ish" and polished compared to the raw more "rock and rollish" sound of the beatles, but their drummer was better than pete by a good margin.
This is incredible music!

These were the recordings George tried to have legally destroyed back in about 1995. Guess he failed!

This was very late 1962, though, and Ringo played during these sessions.

@ternak001 Ringo replaced Pete in August 1962

If this was 1962, Ringo would be the drummer by now
