I have a very rare and complete 1973 Coming to America SST promotional package which has huge photo's of SST ,statistics and all applicable info about SST and future flights. There are 18 pieces in all, including very rare photographs and a letter to a company in US making SST components that were failing and what to do about addressing the situation. This is a promotional package sent to the US b4 the arrival of the SST/Concorde,any interest,, marlok1@aol.com
@marlok1964 As a follow up to my comment, this was NOT a public document package, very few people received this promotional package and is therefore very, very rare...
I will NEVER forget living under the flight path and watching the Concorde every evening. My daughter when she was young used to call it the Rocket Plane. To see it from the M25 was a sight as well, climbing away as it passed overhead. Used to frighten lots of people from "out of town"!
It is hard to tell what is at 0:58 but I would say that it is Concorde judging by the fact all the people are staring and the 747 doesn't have that kind of power to the people
If you think that's special - BAA allowed BA to make Concorde a priority aircraft, meaning that if it was ready to take off, it would take off. Aircraft were always held back for Concorde to take off at LHR.
it was the tire what made it set on fire, i got told this at the mueseum where u can go and sit in the cockpit and all that it was mint its bigger than u think lol
SUD aviation didn't have a direct part in design, it merged with Nord aviation to form aerospatiale, they, and BAC designed and built it. BTw i doesn't have canards
In aviation, you never know about a design fault until it actually plays a part in a incident. Sadly this particular one stuck a few nails in the 'cordes coffin.
a truly beautiful aircraft...if it was any other air crash other than concorde it would have been forgotten about but because it was everybody remebers it its such a shame that it came to an end, and as for it being air france's fault it wasnt it was the fault of the airports ground crew who should sweep the runway to check for debris such as that piece of metal if it wasnt for them usless frogs she would still be flying today...
A poor design was at fault. It was a catastrophe that was just waiting to happen. The bottom of the plane did not have sufficient protection in case of a tire blowout and they knew about the problems for years.
Us Brits don't make anything anymore, we kept getting shafted over by corrupt governments and the Yanks (re TSR2), so most of our engineers now work for someone else. Concorde was our finest moment in our aviational history and probably our final one. Shame I never got the opportunity to fly in her, we took a big step backwards when she stopped service. With todays economic climate and the green warriors having thier way, we'll probably never see it again either.
For many years,on the south shore,in the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, you knew it was 2:35 GMT without looking at your watch. There was faint boom as Concorde had left JFK and broke Mach 1.
A few times Concorde did precautionary landings in Halifax(CYHZ) and word spread fast she was comming in. If not fly on her, watching her land as dirty as she could be(drag wise of course) was simpily wonderful.
i saw the concord land at kellogs airport in battle creek michigan. for the 1st and last time ever truely amazing its hard to believe out of all the americian aircraft that have crashed concord loses 1 and its the end
i love concorde 1976-2003 and the song is won,t let you fall by fergie nice song also the song parts play at the appropriete times when it is sad and happy
Concorde was a beauty queen of the skies for 27 years as well,1976-2003 british airways and air france were the only two operators of it and good song
...THe diagram in the begining of the film isnt the concorde...Its the Russians' Tupolev TU-144..Look it up, concorde doesnt have flaps that come out of the top of the plane
incidents happen every now and then!! and so what?? so if the cause was the accident we must take down half of the worlds fleet init! stupid.... too expensive to maintain... i agree on that one though. albeit it wasnt an expensive and slow aircraft!
the guy who made this video must be a english. Because you show in the first part only british airways concorde and then " until an AFr concorde take off " and give us the impression that air france got all wrong. This is so weird. By the way I thing air france concorde are much more beautiful then the british one. Last comment, euh the drawing in the beginning has nothing to do with concorde. It the russian pladgia one.
I think that ur just a frencj arse to be honest, typical u always take things personally, ur argument is pretty weak though seeing as the British Airways and Air France Concorde liveries are almost the same anyway

you know, they only made 16 of these planes.
they stopped making them because they were too expensive.
I really wish the could make them again.
to make them cheaper couldn't they use Kevlar or something like that?
Dontscaremeplease 2 years ago
They made 20 and they stopped making them as no-one would buy them, not because they were expensive.
Kevlar? You seriously don't know what you're on about. That's just stupid.
qwertdr 2 years ago
Comment removed
Dontscaremeplease 2 years ago
I only meant Kevlar for part of the plane, not the whole one (They are already doing that for military fighters.
People did buy them, they were too expensive.
you need to get the facts straight
Dontscaremeplease 2 years ago
BA and AF bought some with the remained being forced on them. When I said no-one, it was quite obvious I meant airlines other than those two.
And no, they were not that much more expensive to buy than other aircraft - that's what your comment suggests, the unit price.
The operating cost wasn't a problem providing the market could sustain it, so it's all relative.
Don't tell me to get my facts right when it's you who needs to understand context, not only with what I say, but also what you say.
