Besides the choice, in weaponry, He- Man was an example to kids, to have purpose, in the seemingly chaotic & bleakest of surroundings. He had a sense of duty & honor, that modern reworkings lack.

I dunno if u remember the 1st incarnation, but, there was something profound, about his sword & breastplate, vs the "skull & bones" factor, peppered w/ kingdom subjects who rely on magick, yet HE's their champion.

If you had done any research you would know that they had to replace it due to complaints of it looking like the Nazi's Iron Cross symbol, yes that's how much of a P.C> world we live in.

And you can thank Cartoon Network for the lack of Moral segments at the end of each episode, they had them removed from the episodes when they aired them, luckily BCI and Mattel had them all restored for the DVD season releases.

The NAZI rework had a small swastika, diagonally placed n its center, to represent the new allegiance of N. Europe to the Third Reich. The original Maltese cross was a medal 4 bravery & valor.
