The interval time signal that is used by Radio Havana is "The March of the 26th of July". It commemmorates Castro's 1959 revolt against the Batista government.
I recall this station on AM1040 in the late 1990's, but no longer Radio Habana Cuba is received over medium-wave. RHC is controversial to Americans due to some anti-U.S. political propaganda it airs not only in Latin America, but towards North America (US & Canada) with the main target in Miami's Cuban refugee community. According to wikipedia, 1040AM (formerly radio Moscow-America) is the frequency of WHO of Des Moines, Iowa, where a young Ronald Reagan was a sports broadcaster in the 1930s. +
Ah, good memories. "Este es Radio Habana Cuba, transmitiendo des de Cuba, territorio libre en America". The propaganda was lousy, but the music was excellent.
0:48 - reminds me of part of the song Oh I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside.

The voice is that of Thelma Rodriguez. She also spent one year in the Spanish Department of China Radio International.

@CrowleysGhost
that is still true today, great music but lousy (although at times entertaining) propaganda

@CrowleysGhost OMG! I used to practice saying that .. It was so romantic to hear that phrase. I wasn't a commie, but I just had a love of Cuba.
