@rysnyper50002 When I say chains... I'm saying chains and a winch. Use the chains on the under-body toe hook, then use the winch to pull the car on the truck. Obviously they didn't have a winch which was stupid.
@niceboy60 ok, if you're theory is correct, go try and push a heavier weight uphill while your tyres remain in contact with the icy surface, it would be like pushing against a brick wall.
I have loaded couple thousand Jaguars with summer tyres on trailers, in Finland, during winter. Never had any problems. And no, car transporting trucks doesn't have any winches, the ramp is not as steep though. You just have to get some speed and avoid spinning your tires in front of the ramp... if you do that even once, you'll never get it up there. Usually it was harder to drive those things to the trailer than get those on it. Doesn't matter if it has over 500hp :D
@BorisD1992 nothing to do with the car. just tires and driver. car is damn great and when you can explain how Ferrari sucks, i will engage in a, im sure will be a very rewarding conversation with you.
Bit stupid trying to get it up that ramp on those conditions without using a winch. Think these guys need to go back and learn how to do their job..... or some common sense.
No shit it's going to fail going up that steep incline with summer traction tires. Any real car with power, with summer performance tires is going to do nothing but slip around like a damn banana peel.
Horsepower has nothing to do with the issue at hand. The rubber on the tires is frozen and thus can't grab traction. Winter tires would solve that problem.
@Blackskys90 no the ff is four wheel drive..there is a difference...awd has all 4 wheels going at the same time...four wheel drive is essentially a rear wheel driven car and the front wheels kick in when needed...so the ff stand for FOUR WHEEL DRIVE...there is no A in FF..so its not ALL WHEEL DRIVE
@pac850 Rubber freezes. Gravity is there biggest obstacle to overcome. Without proper forces. Friction, momentum. The inertia of the car will remain to low to overcome gravity. Bam physics.
@pac850 you are an idiot, why do you think driving with winter tires in the summer ruins them? Summer and winter tires have totally different rubber compounds .... you my friend should stop trying to act smart
@terracon First of all rubber doesn't freeze. Stop trying to sound smart because by your logic winter tires would be frozen too. The wider the wheel the less it can handle snow/ice. And yea having a touchy car with 600 hp doesn't help so it does have a lot to do with the issue at hand. If you've ever driven anything with more than 400 hp and wide tires in the snow you would realize this.
A tow truck has a winch right behind the cab on the ramp so it can pull up cars that have been wrecked or arent driveable and it pulls it onto the bed.
@WhiteRain74 That'd be the logical thing to do, but maybe this one doesn't have the hooks to hook the cables up to. Maybe Ferrari charges extra for the hooks, who knows?!
@VR46champion hehe, I would rather buy another car and tune and feel more plesure with and beat that crapy Ferrari instead of driving a exotic car and feel like a dick. :)
@Readytuna hahaha exactly.. I mean, I think having that 300 K dollar car is useless and i think it's too much waste of money even though you have lots of excess money, i'd rather contact a dealer that will import me exotic Japanese Tuners like Skylines and stuff which is 4WD and powerful too!
@VR46champion Yes, I also think a skyline with the same horsepower would be more fun to drive than a Ferrari or other supercars. Take the Swedish Volvo 740, a very common car here in sweden. Tune it to about 500-600hp with the right setup and rebuild it so it can handle the power, I can promise that the Volvo is way more fun to drive than that Ferrari and you don´t have to be very careful with it. Why own a expensive car when you are affraid to use it?? :D
@Readytuna Okay Skyline would be fun cause it's 4wd and has crazy good electronics but why 740? I wasn't aware of that being a performance car at all.
@thekkl haha true! ;) But I gave an example.. Take a Swedish shit car like the Volvo 740 and tune it, since it´s VERY cheap to tune and still being faster than today cars and supercars. Sure, it´s nothing to really watch becouse it´s look like shit. But still as i´m trying say, you can have way more fun the 740 and still feel that you don´t have to be too much careful with it. But I rather take an skyline lika you say ;)
That guy has no idea how to drive a clutch, or coordinate his feet. Get the hell out of the car... Thing probably ended up damaged by the time they were done!
@K12SXXFire What I said was I thought you couldn't get it in the California. I have never seen a modern Ferrari with a 3rd pedal. In fact, I'm pretty sure the last Ferrari I knew that had a 3rd pedal was the F50, possibly F40.
@mikbenchawin my friend has the 427 italy there only gas pedal and brake pedal...but it does have a dual clutch system so no mater what rpm u r in it won't grind the gears its all done by the ECU this is stander in the 427..but $12,000 option in some other ferraris third pedal been gone since the 90s
This is one of the reasons why people do not drive exotics in conditions like this. one of the best places to own these cars is in southern cali, fl, hi
@1veryreal its rear wheel drive and its on ice, im sure its not easy to get it up something like that on ice, especially with the tires on it...pretty stupid thing to say, no offense, im just saying
ok I agree use a winch. but anyone who should be qualified to own a ferrari should at least not be retarded. If your on an incline and your on the brake, this is how you go up, without coming down. step 1 clutch in, and press brake. Step 2 while holding down the button pull up on the handbrake (keep holding button). Step 3 give a little gas let out on clutch til it grabs. Step four slowly let down on handbrake and continue to release clutch, and tadaa.
This is why they have snow tires, snow chains and other things that enhance traction in situations like these. I don't know if you could use chains on this car though.
@enerandrea Cold does bad things for summer tires, they loose grip in temps below 10C and that icy smooth metal bed is perhaps not the best surface for tires to grab on either, then there is weight distribution and weight transfer working against grip of tires, so what they are trying is rather hopeless. If they turn around the car it would have been easier
.
Duo to the inclination all the weight of the car is on the front
.
Turning around the car would mean weight & (some) grip on the rear
