  • 30 minutes ago I was watching videos about UFOs and 9/11. How the fuck i ended up here, i have no clue !

  • Your electric bill must be high. also, does use any kind of anti-spetic, or just plain water?

  • @3madishere then sell all your possessions and move to Somalia, Calcutta or Cameroon.

    STFU

  • My cats are curious and watched while we set it up. The left before we started the first cycle. So far I'm happy!

  • Just set up our CG and find it very noisy, but with three cats I am done with all the scooping and mess. Thank you for posting the video. My cats-.

  • dixonherbut I am speachless, astonished , to see such invention,

such money spend on such machine all this for the cat littering.

Do you know there are millions maybe billions of people human beings

Kids children are starving and homless,

Why wouldn’t you offer such care for a homless child, instead of a cat?.

  • @3madishere Then go to Africa and help out starving children. Maybe educate them that it's not a good idea to have 10 children per woman when you cant even buy them shoes or books. I personally care about my cat more than I do about some mother and her 10 hungry children in Somalia. Next time maybe she should have 1 child and focus on feeding that child. Liberals make me sick to my stomach!

  • glad you did this video. I too am seriously considering onee so I wanted to see if i can trust the cleaning cycle. it looks fairly thourough.

  • This is awesome... I wish they do ship it to thailand.

  • I liked it just because of the funny comments on the video in blue. And the catgenie is pretty cool too, I guess. :P

  • i disliked this because you said go lakers.

  • @Mr916Saechao omg really it's not even about the lakers

  • the cleaning cycle is very nice and clever but:

DOES IT THIS EVERY TIME THE CAT WAS IN IT??????????????????

IT WOULD BECOME CRAZY AND MY CAT ALSO!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

  • Hi everyboudy

after washing and rinsing the granules they will be wet for a while or what will happen to wetness of granules?

  • you can't believe you filmed your cat genie? i can't believe i'm watching it!

  • So curious question, I've done some research. I really like how Cat Genie works and one other machine Litter Robot seems to work quite nicely as well. Only cons with genie is cleaning process takes a while and with Little Robot, still have to clean box, which is fine. Which one should I choose? Any suggestions?

  • @VBloodFetishV I looked at the Litter Robot as well, but chose the CatGenie (CG) because it flushes all waste out and self-cleans the bowl. In the past year, I've only had to touch the CG to replace cleaning cartridges and to scoop the occassional tiny poo bits. Long term though, CG will cost more (electricity + water + litter pellets + cartridges), but it is worth it to ME. Check out the litterbox-central CG forums to read more info from other users, to see if it's the right fit for you.

  • @dixonherbut Alright thanks ^_^

  • In the time this cleaning cycle takes, I scooped four litterboxes, added new litter to 2 of them and took the bag of used litter out to the trash! Granted, the litter isn't 'green', but the plastic litter in this gizmo is made from oil and it uses extra water and electricity. No thanks!

  • so, everytime a cat poops or pees in it there is a cicle of 35 minutes? wow!!! can you set that? or is that automatic? it is looking very interesting so far...

  • @nelalua I wonder that too... :s

  • Thanks for posting this! We've been having 2 beep errors since we installed the CG, and weren't sure where to start looking first. Having seen how much water your CG pulls in, it's definitely the water flow, or lack thereof! :D

  • Very convincing indeed.

  • This thing scooped my my kitten and dissolved her in the chemicals. I hated that stupid animal so I give this killing machine 2 thumbs up! :-)

  • @waterfordjim i fucking hate you so much. i know the cat didn't die but i would kick your ass if i saw you. i love cats. why would you get one if you hat it. you make me angry. i bet you r a fucking ginger. butt fucking homo fag ass wipe dick hole

  • @warrakh .....Eat my semen, snot, urine, bile, and diarrhea all at once. :-)

  • @waterfordjim i bet you would fantasise a dude eating that for you queer mo. fag i hope you and your parents burn in hell for all eternity. and i hope you die in a mass murder and i hope your dick gets eaten by a dog that has rabies. so then you will have rabies of the dick and you will die. BIAAATCCCH

  • @warrakh @waterforjim And there, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example of how fights get started over the stupidest of 'causes'. Isn't human nature grand?

  • if this video is almost 10min long and you said multiple times that the video was faster than what the machine actualy is then it takes way to long to clean the litter pan. is it really that hard to scoop and clean a litter pan. If anyone decided to get a cat then they are responsible enough to clean a litter pan if they dont want to then dont get a cat or any animal. This machine is stupid and a waste of money.

  • It's one Star Trek-grade cat crapper, I tell you! :)

  • Why does it wash the litter?

  • thnx for filming! your comments are soooo funny! hahahaha

  • This is a freekin cool product!! I understand that since it uses water and electricity it's probably not saving me any money, but I'm really paying for the convenience of never having to touch that gross litter or scoop crap!! :D

  • does it do a full clean everytime the cat poops or pees?

  • holy shit it takes more than 10 minutes to clean a damn cat toilet. when it only takes 3_5 for a litter box!!!

  • @starsofliberty actually it was 30 minutes because the video was sped up x3

  • Please , get a tripod next time and don't torture yourself! thx for filming :)

  • What if your cat has to go when it's in the middle of cleaning?

Where do the poop and pee go?

Do you have to connect it to your toilet?

How can it go down a washing machine drain?

I have a cat and kitten.

Does the noise bother the cats?

Does it take a lot of electricity?

  • @julia22202 Your cat will need to wait 'til the cleaning cycle is finished b4 using it again. The poop/pee is drained out as liquid, usually through the same drain "hole" as your washing machine; you can set it up with your toilet, but you have to manually flush the toilet and you need an adapter for the water intake. Some cats don't like the noise, but mine just stare at it. Not sure how much electricty it takes, but the dry cycle is like having a blow dryer run for about 17 minutes.

  • I would totally get one of these if I had a cat! I don't lie

  • Oh, so it really doesn't save you money? We have 4 cats so we go through litter and a lot of scooping. If I remember correctly, they advertised that you will save money on cat litter, which I thought was cool, but the whole thing would be over $300; rather steep for us. What happens when there're soft poops? Does it get all messy?

  • @Sarahmajig If I compare my costs of the CatGenie vs. SweatScoop/Tidy Cats/Litter Purrfect, etc. it was cheaper for me with the regular litter products. However, I bought the CatGenie because of convenience. Yes, manually scooping cat crap into a bag each day is not that hard, but I don't mind paying to have it done automatically. I also like how the whole litter box is scrubbed and cleaned each time. Soft poops can get messy. Try to time the clean cycles when the poop has time to solidify a bit

  • just take a scoop and clean it out! what a shitty invention, if ppl are honestly that fucking lazy then god help us!

  • your a PUSSY....... cat, if you cant clean a real litter box

  • Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  • que maravilla yo diario cambio la arena de cinco gatos se me va casi todo lo que gano en arena haha!

  • ok in this video the litter box is loud when it cleans is it just because the type a camera ur using or is it really that loud?

  • @Kat42Gar It depends on your definition of "loud". It's definitely quieter than my washing machine, but if you live in a studio apartment, you might not want this running a cleaning cycle in the middle of the night. Also, the newer model is quieter I think. BTW, my kids have been able to sleep through the noise at night, and their room is about 10 feet away from the laundry room (where the CatGenie is).

  • @dixonherbut Hi, nice vedio, I always want to get one of this for my cats, just one question, can the catgenie aotomactly clean up the poop right after my cat used it?

  • @Kat42Gar I will take the noise of the litter box over cleaning piles and piles of crap every day. My question is how long do the sani solution cartridges last? and what happens to the litter thats picked up by the genie? They say you never need to replace the litter

  • why am i laying in bed wide awake at 5am watching videos of automatic cat crappers when i dont even have a cat?

  • @DaniDamagee hahahaha I feel you :)

  • @DaniDamagee loll

  • @DaniDamagee I'm doing the same thing as you and I don't even have a cat either and it's 9:30 pm right now ...

  • @DaniDamagee

Dito! If you figure that, out, let me know!

  • @ejmoore1993 its been 4 months and i still havent worked it out ):

  • @DaniDamagee I dunno. Drugs?

  • That's like saving a whole month of cat litter ..........but does it cost a lot and do you have to get the drain install

  • @jamal281000 Honestly, the overall cost will be higher compared to "traditional" cat litter. These units use special cleaning cartridges and litter. Even though the litter is "washable", you will eventually need to buy some (because some pellets get kicked out by the cats, washed down the drain, etc.). You also have to factor in the cost of water and electricity. This product won't save you money, but it makes cleaning more convenient. It drains out using the same "hole" as your washing machine.

  • wow, i cant believe i watched this entire video and i dont even have a cat.LOL cool contraption:)

  • Thank you for this video. My CatGenie should be arriving on Thursday, and I wanted to see it in action.

  • One word, Amazing!

  • If you have multiple cats like I do I can imagine the other cat waiting for this long cycle to finish..."Come on Come on!!"

  • OMG another superfluent energy wasting device for lazy people :o(

  • If you're buying this for your one cat, you're overconsuming. However, you have five cats, so you are fine my friend.

  • wow i really just watched the whole thing.

  • i watched this whole video coz i was bored i dont even like cats or this machine what if your cat is shitting at night it take half a hour to clean its self and it sounds pretty noisy

  • @iBsCraig do you sleep in the bathroom or laundry room?

  • Comment removed

  • Well if it did this everytime a cat used the box it would be insane, not only is it noisy but the electrical cost & water usage can't be cheap.

  • WHATS IT TRYING TO DO??? MAKE OATMEAL????? 1:25

  • 3,5 times faster than normal speed?? I bet my cat has to go to the toilet again right after it's done.

  • I want my 10 minutes back!

  • i have a hawaiian persian, it is a mix between a himilayian persian and a rare breed called the hawaiian runner.

  • What if your cat has diarrhea? :D

  • haha that's awesome. I'd of done the same thing so I guess my life is just as lame.

  • what happens if the cat is GOING and the cleaning is programmed to clean at that time... wouldn't it scare the crap out of the cat (pun intended)?

  • in the time it takes for this to clean i could have cleaned out 4 cat boxes, and sprayed all of them with lysol.

  • This is awesome sigh if only i was rich:(

  • And what does the poor cat do while all this rinsing cycle bit is going on ?? If you filmed this twice the actual speed surely it would be taking AGES for all this to be going on - Good idea tho ! :-)

  • I got this thing back in March. It's great. It's in the utility room and flushes down the washing machine drain. I have one cat. On cat activation mode, I don't even have to mess with it except every two or three months to change the cartridge or add granules. Sure beats picking out cat doodies every day and dealing with litter.

  • they should make one that runs this fast and smooth. ( ik its in fast forward.lol)

  • I know a couple of friends that have this unit and they just love it. You do not need to replace the granules very often at all. It is super clean and sanitary. The cats took to it rather quickly and it sits beside the regular toilet all neat and tidy. One of my cats uses the actual human toilet. She has never been trained to use it but she always comes in the bathroom with me when i go and just caught on herself. She does not like sharing the litter box with the other cats.

  • You're not pathetic for filming your cat genie........ I am for watching this. Someone kill me.

  • Wow, it's not very green is it? Rinses itself 3 times and then blow drying all that kitty litter up for 35 minutes every time it's used.

  • seems pretty noisy... and it takes 30 minutes? doesn't cleaning a catbox the old fashioned way take less than a minute?

  • useless

  • so, for a cat genie to do that proces its about 31 1/2 minutes?

    wow

  • What happens to the wet litter. Should I assume you dispose of it? Or does it require a specific type or litter? Or the litter dries??

Seems a pretty cool, helpful device. The 35 min cycle is not long, not like cats are pooping all day long, they poo once or twice a day why would the kitteh poo exactly when you're cleaning it? XD

  • @komoriaimi The owner of the video says it above: This thing spins around really fast, with "teeth" the bottom. It basically liquefies the solid waste, so it can be pumped out, along with all the water, urine, and cleaning fluid. The litter is dried by using HOT air ... like a blow dryer. Afterwards, the litter is actually pretty warm. For the most part, it is completely dry too.

  • people this this is a silly video but I think this is really great for people who have medical problems that make it hard for them to clean a cat box or for people who, like a guy i know that owns a cat and has no arms. he usually has someone help him. some people just need more options than others.

  • what if you have 5 cats? would we need 2 or 3? XD

  • @Kimmuryiel The company recommends that only 2 - 3 cats use 1 CatGenie. If you have 5, then they'd recommend you get at least 2 CatGenies. I have seen some people install multiple CatGenies in their home. Make sure you have the space to fit 2 of these.

  • @dixonherbut thank you :) might just look at this for the one of the three litterboxes we have that gets the most use

  • what a waste of time. Its just a bit of cat poo

  • what happens to the feces that got scooped? As I could tell in this video - litter air dries, right? just from moving back and worth - no additional blown air on it? Does the litter feel dry after it is actually finished the cycle?

  • @hrushka13 The feces get scooped into the "impeller". This thing spins around really fast, with "teeth" the bottom. It basically liquefies the solid waste, so it can be pumped out, along with all the water, urine, and cleaning fluid. The litter is dried by using HOT air ... like a blow dryer. Afterwards, the litter is actually pretty warm. For the most part, it is completely dry too.

  • wow, you thought it was pathetic filming your cat genie, I just watched your video of the cat genie, I am not sure which is worse. But thank you none the less, been looking at this thing for a year, still undecided.

  • I cant believe I'm watching this! Is my life pathetic too?

  • what happens if piss

  • What happens if your cat needs to go again? LOL, mine goes like twice in a half hour sometimes.

  • lol gotta get one of those:) still I wish my cat could use the toilet lke some of the cats on youtube vids

  • dude cats dont go piss/poo every 30/40 minutes....they can wait longer..they can stay withought wanting to go for hours

  • @Cronxes Very true. Cats generally poo within minutes of being fed. If you have multiple cats then simply give them half an hour after eating and put it on a run. If they should want to go during a run, they will wait. Cats will choose a litter tray of any kind over doing it on the floor or elsewhere as they are very clean animals. If a cat is doing it somewhere he shouldn't then there is usually either a health or behavioural issue to be addressed.

  • The cat is gonna have to crap again by the time it's done cleaning! Haha

  • I'm thinking of purchasing one of these - would you recommend it now after having used it for a couple years? I don't want to spend $400 on something that will only last for six months.

  • omg...it only takes like 2 min to scoop it up urself

  • OMG.... much too long and too loud. my cat never would go even near this thing ;-)

  • It takes 35 minutes each clean? Assuming a cat has been waiting for a poo for a few hours, what if one cat has just been when he finally decides to go? Mine wouldnt wait 35 minutes, so it either tries to use a soaking wet, cement mixer OR poo on the carpet? Thinking about getting a 120, just trying to be critical - as unless my two cats were completely synced (which they would never be) it means occasionly one would be forced to use the floor?

  • @MrAyrehead09 For best results, you need to do a little research to understand your cats' poo/piss cycle. It also helps if you maintain a consistent feeding schedule (I use an automatic cat feeder). This way, you can be pretty confident in knowing when your cats typically use the litter box. I have mutilpe cats as well, and I rarely ever have any "accidents".

  • @MrAyrehead09, I only have one cat but think about the times I've seen him take a leak only to go back to drop a deuce about 20 minutes later. So, I've thought about the timing thing. If the thing is in the middle of a wash phase, how can he get in there when it takes about 35 minutes to clean?

The only thing I can think of is to set it for about 5 am when he is busy pestering me to give him attention an hour before I need to be up.

  • @MrAyrehead09 Yeah my boyfriend and I have 5 cats, and there is not way these litterboxes are appropriate for multiple cat households. We bought the litter robot in fact because this one was so long a cycle. and it was not appropriate either. We are back to manual scooping litterboxes. If a person has 1 cat this MIGHT work.

  • Very interesting. Success !

  • wow that takes forever to clean itself. the cat did half a poo, it uses a lot of electricity and water..not to mention the $250 price tag..and those pellets kinda look like rice

  • not bad, i dont think id get one though, its a little expensive and also one of my cats would poop over the side of that, shes got a habit of hanging her butt over the edge when going poop :-S

  • I have a fast and quick solution for you-Omega Paw-roll it and empty the tray-Done in 10 sec!

  • so how much is it??

  • Is it really that noisy? And everytime after your cat goes it cleans itself for 30 minutes or can u have a timer so it cleans like once a day or somethin.......we have three cats

  • @PictureGuitarPlayer The newer 120 model is supposed to be a little quieter, but I think it would still be too noisy if your bedrrom is very near wherever you install it. You can set the timer to run in 1, 2,3, or 4 intervals during a 24-hour period. The 120 Model also has a "Cat Activation" feature, where it runs a cleaning cycle 10 minutes after you cat has used it. For 3 cats, they recommend at least running it 3 - 4 times a day.

  • ugh this is like watching paint dry! lol.

  • Come on . Can you imagine the waste of energy and water on this ? I mean... The wall cycle last for about 35 minutes.... Your cat go make a little poop that you can retrieve and pout in your toilet in what... 5 seconds ? I don't know. I like robots, and automatic stuff, but I don't see a great added value in this (from my point of view) inefficient product. It seems also noisy... 35 minutes of noise... after your cat made a little poop.... wth ....

  • How long those one sani-solution cartridge last?

  • The older "60 Model" CatGenie catridges lasted for 60 cleanings. The newer 120 Model lasts 120 cleaning cycles. The newer 120 Model also has a "Cat Activation" feature, that supposedly gets you up to 240 washes. Cat Activation is where it runs a cleaning cycle 10 minutes after you cat has used it. Somehow, the CatGenie knows how to readjust the amount of cleaning fluid needed, which is how you can get up to 240 washes with 1 cartridge. I don't own this model, so I can't say how true this is.

  • @dixonherbut : I have 2 Cat Genie at home because I have three wonderful cute cats!

  • I'm thinking about getting a CatGenie and the main concern that I have is the warranty. Have you ever had a problem w/ the mechanics of the machine or has it broken down? Also, I have an extremely curious cat and I'm worried she might stick her paw somewhere she ain't supposed too. Does the CatGenie have a shut down feature in the case the cat sticks her paw in the scoop? Thanks a lot!

  • The std warranty is 2 yrs. I think they offer an extended warranty you can buy, but not sure. My model is the older "60 Model", and it did have some design issues, but the company made various improvements and upgrades, and they sent most of them to me for free. The latest 120 Model has all the design improvements, and the cleaning cartridges last longer. I've never heard of a cat getting its paw stuck in the scoop. I think 99% of owners won't have this problem, but I don't know for sure.

  • hmm where does the waste all go to? and where does the water come from and where can i buy one of these?

  • The CatGenie hooks up to the same water line as your laundry machine; an adapter is included. The "liquified" waste goes out the same pipe that your laundry machine uses when it drains out all the water.

  • If you don't have a laundry room, you can even hook this up next to your toilet. The CatGenie comes with an adapter to get water from the same line that your toilet gets the water from. The "liquified" waste goes through the CatGenie hose that hooks onto the bowl of your toilet. You just have to manually flush your toilet (at some point). You can buy a CatGenie from Amazon, or directly from the company (Petnovations). Other places sell them as well, but not sure of all of them.

  • Wow. This was very useful! D*mn! It sure does take a long time. If I were to use them, I would need 3, but I was waiting to see how one actually worked. Let the pondering begin!

  • i tried to leave this comment before, it didnt work. sorry if this is double.

i have a question: does the cleaning cycle have to be this long every time? it seems like an awful lot of water electricity and cleaning liquid (is that even good?? is it not too chemical?).

could one set it to do a short cycle daily and the longer cycle every few days??

  • According to the company (user manual), the CatGenie's water usage each time is abouta few "toilet flushes per day". Someone on the Litterbox-Central forums said it uses 5 gallons per cycle, but I don't know for sure.

In terms of electricty, the manual says "20W (cleaning cycle 17 min) 1200W (drying cycle 17 min)". According to some people on the Litterbox-Central forums, this could equal to $0.10 - $0.14 per cycle.

The cleaning fluid is the same kind they use at a vet, so it "should" be safe

  • something i didnt get, sorry... does this do the full cycle EVERY time?? Is it really necessary?

Seems like a lot of water, cleaning liquid and electricity to me.

or can you set it to clean fully only every few days and do a short cycle daily??

    thanks.

  • Yes, it must do a full cycle every time, even with the new 120 model. You can set it for "Cat Activation" mode, where it will run after your cat has done "his business". Or, you can set it to auto run, 1, 2, 3 or 4 times a day. You can also manually run a cycle whenever you want (by pressing a button).

A few customers (on the Litterbox-Central forums) posted an idea (long ago) to have a shorter clean cycle (for when cats just go pee), but the company does not seem to be able to design it yet.

  • I have two cats. They go in one after the other. The machine waits ten min. after the last user, before it starts the cycle. The kitties are NEVER distressed because they have to wait for it.

Haven't your cats ever "waited" for you to clean the litter box? The minute you put fresh litter in, they use it! right? Don't hesitate, buy it! This is as important as my washing machine, and dishwasher. I never want to be without it!

  • I'm 66 yrs. old, and was exhausted lifting the heavy bags of litter. It was costly, and messy. They dust killed my allergies, and I hated the smell! I purchased this 2 mo. ago, and my cats love having clean litter everytime they need to use it! It's the best money I ever spent! I will NEVER go back! You sceptics are shooting yourself in the foot!! This is cheaper than buying litter! Are you crazy?

The cats take to it, right away, no matter how scittish they are. It's brilliant!

  • I think it was nice of you to film it I'm in the market on getting one, and as sad as it might sound I wanted to see how it works. Reading and seeing are two different things, so thank you for it...

Oh and yes I did watch all 9:56 sec's of it, and I didn't fast forward it haha ;)

  • Looks like a really elaborate item, I like it! Unfortunately my cat hates motor operated devices that make noise. He runs from the vacuum cleaner, paper shredder, garbage disposal, etc.

Once he see this thing fire up he'll never go near it again! lol

  • I have a female cat who is the same way. She's scared of most noises, and will take off running. We've had her for 15 years, and many times she will even run from us, because she thinks we're "after" her or something. She's pretty good at using the CatGenie though. It will only make noises during the cleaning cycle, so she pretty much stays away (cats can't use it during the cleaning cycle anyway). At all other times, she uses it like any ordinary litterbox.

  • what if the cat has to go while it's cleaning?

  • Unfortunately, if your cat needs to go, hell have to wait until the cleaning cycle is totally finished. Its really important to monitor your cats litter habits before setting up the CatGenie, so you know how to schedule it. The new 120 model has a cat activation feature, so it will start cleaning 10 minutes AFTER it detects your cat has been in it. However, this isnt a perfect solution either, especially if you have multiple cats. In my experience, my cats will just wait until its done.

  • @runitgirl....and you watched it. those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

  • you sat there filming this for 20 something mins? loser

  • Why did you watch it then? This is for people interested in the product, you stupid Nig.

  • Comment removed

  • Just occured to me that you sat and iflmed this for the full cleaning cycle....

  • When I first bought this 3 years ago, I was totally fascinated by it. Personally, I think it's quite an ingenious product. It's definitely not perfect, but I think most new owners will feel compelled to watch it at least 1 time, because there really isn't anything like it on the market right now. I just ended up filming it, because I thought, "Hey, if I'm gonna watch it anyway, I might as well film it."

  • Haha to be honest, it's the sort of thing I'd do. I'm fascinated by stuff like this. I could imagine buying a Roomba and just watching it all around the house.

  • why not get the litter kwitter toilet trainer kit instead? its like 1/4 the cost and works in about 3 months so you wont need a litter box or litter or a catgenie or anything, your cat will use the toilet like everyone else.

  • Agreed ... toilet training your cat would be the cheapest and probably the best environmentally friendly solution. If you have the patience and time to train your cat, I think this is the best way to go. However, like many things, it all depends on your cat and your situation. For me, having my cats use our toilet is actually not a feasible option.

  • You realize the stuff still has cat pee and shit piece in it? Still needs to be changed and cleaned.

  • Well, this is not really true. The poo gets scooped and then "liquified" and gets drained out during the cleaning cycle. The pee collects inside the base of the unit (underneath the litter). The pee also gets drained out during the cleaning cycle. There are 3 "water/wash" phases, where water (mixed with cleaning fluid) is used to help scrub the litter and bowl, and all of it gets drained out. HOWEVER, sometimes tiny pieces of poo don't get scooped, so yes, there may still be bits left over.

  • I feel like a creep watching a 10 minute cat poop video but this is really helpful.

    thanks for posting it.

I just purchased the catgenie 120 and wanted to see what I was in for. Hopefully mine will work properly.. :)

    thank yoooou!

  • Be sure to check out the CatGenie forum on the litterbox-central website. They have a lot of users that submit helpful tips and feedback. It's also a good place to post your own review, if you think certain features are poor or suck.

  • Will do! Thank you muchly :)

  • this product is pretty cool. i'm thinking to get one of these when I'm pregnant, so I don't have to scoop the litter by myself!

  • Yeah, this is one of the reasons I bought it. I didn't want my wife scooping it while pregnant (it can be dangerous to the health of an expecting mother or unborn child). Even though our cats never eat raw meat or drink milk from infected animals, I still did not want my wife to risk it (toxoplasmosis). Overall though, it's really more of a convinience thing for me. On the rare occasion when I do have to scoop litter (for friends when I'm house sitting), I realize my life is better having it.

  • Do you have to keep buying the "special litter"?? Im planning on buying it and just wanted to know

  • Yep, you can only use their "washable granules" (litter) with the CatGenie. How frequently you need to refill and buy a new box of granules will depend on your cat(s). Check out the CatGenie forum on the litterbox-central website to read more info about the pros and cons of their "special litter". Some people even use their own substitues for the litter, but I'm not sure how good the results are.

  • Just an other idea of a pet supplier to get lots of bucks of kitty owners.

Beside the fact that the litter box is really expensive, the owner still has to buy the EXTRA SPECIAL granulate (around 25 bucks per unit) to refill.

In theory one granulate unit leasts for up to 4 months.

I use biodegradable kitty litter, made of corn or pine. Each time one of our family uses the toilet, he just scoops out the litter box beside the toilet and flushes everything in one step.

    Best and cheapest way.

  • @neferibi: $25 isn't that bad... The unit pays for itself in no time at all. I have two cats and buying 'not so expensive' litter was costing me upwards of $25 a month... The 'EXTRA SPECIAL' litter for this is biodegradable and lasts about 9 months... Simple math reveals that this happens to be the better deal. I guess it just depends on whether or not you like scooping poop... I don't. The cleaning packs aren't all that expensive either and you don't get dust or anything like a normal box.

  • @ewer0012 Wrong the problem is you cant use the for multiple cats. If one goes and you decide to flush the waste it takes a half hour for it clean forcing the other cat to wait which they dont like to do so they'll find a spot in the house to go instead. Also this unit is made of plastic and the motor has a tendency to get stuck. There's a lot of negative variables here that outweigh the positive. They need to make an improved version of this which cleans faster and is more durable.

  • thank u for the vid, (its not noisy as i thought it wold be) =)

dos it work for 8 cats?

and my cats love to dig a lot do you think its deep inf?

and what kind of sand is that .can i find it like in a normal super market or something?

or do you think i will better of with the litter-robot? for 8 cats

  • They recommend this for 2 cats. 3 might be OK, if they are already sharing 1 litterbox now. I know of other people that have 2 CatGenies, because they have more than 3 cats. I don't think I've ever heard of 8 cats before (the most I recall is 6). If your cats dig a lot, then this might not be a good solution. You have to buy their special washable litter (granules), and it would get expensive for 8 cats. I'm not sure if 1 Litter-Robot would be enough either, but it would probably be cheaper.

  • Don't waste your money. We bought it and it sucks. Had to send it back and it's expensive to boot.

  • why did it suck?

i really want one.did it not do what it should do?

  • Do yourself a favor and go to Amazon and look at the reviews for it. It'll give you an idea of what to expect. It was a nightmare for me and many others, but some like it. Check it out on Amazon and see what you think....and, no it didn't do what it should do, It kept beeping and backing up with standing water filled with cat poop. Not fun !

  • i could have dumped the old litter out and put in new litter in about 5 minutes

  • Does this 35 min great cleaning cycle happen every time your cat uses the litter box? It could be hard in a multi kitty home.

I want one kitty and am looking for a sensible way to keep it odorless.

  • No, the cleaning cycles occur at set intervals. In my case, every 8 hours. The new 120 model can start everytime after your cat uses it (called "cat activation" I think). However, I think "cat activation" cleanings still take 30 minutes (I was wrong in a previous reply).

In terms of a completely "odorless" solution, CatGenie does the trick, most of the time. Sometimes, small bits of cat poo will not be picked up by the rake, and the CatGenie will stink like burnt poo during the drying phase.

  • pretty smart "poop scooper"
