Because the Valve gear is Walschaerts instead of Caprotti it is more like a 16F. but that asside a fantastic machine!

@Locomonarch No ways was I building poppet valves for that model............had enough problems with poppets on the real machines back in the days;-)

Now that's what I call dedication. You're made of stern stuff. Magnificent loco by the way. Almost as good as the real thing. Love the 'cab' shots over the top and side of the loco.

The sound recording from the onboard camera are great! Sounds more like a 3'6'' gauge than 5''!

Bryn, she is a totally different machine since I rebuilt her. She was never a good steamer and it was all down to a problem with her boiler!! Total strip down and rebuild and she is now better than new. I have still got loads more pipes etc to put on her but that can wait for time being. Hopefully my 23 will sound even better once I rebuild her cylinders and give her a new fire grate!!

@LifeofRail - Done a great job with her Rich!! Your SAR locos are just superb, wish I had a fleet like yours! Do you still have your 3 1/2" 16DA, didn't see it in the picture you sent with your locos, only saw the F.

@foreversteam Bryn, I sure do still have my 16DA but with no more room left in the engine shed she stands in my lounge;-) Im going to have to lift the boiler on my 23 soon and that really is going to be a heavy beast to lift. The boiler on the 16E is copper but the 23 is steel so even more weight to lift. Just wait till the day I get my 23 and 10 sounding as good as the 16E...........or at least I hope I can!!!

@SteffanLlwyd No, I never went to that show. Was down at Alexandra palace this year and may go to Harrogate but other than that I have not been to many shows recently. As all my locos are now finished I don't really need much supplies anymore
