  • Dan, you tried; I know you are trying to show case that, we, Sierra Leonean men, can cook. But I can tell you this is so terrible a way to prepare one of our famous dishes. The absence of a "wow" reaction from your young friends should tell you that you are still not up to the task. Get more lessons, my friend. And don't even venture to show how to prepare jute leaves (krain-krain) dish.

  • I def give him credit for trying, however if your going to go public with such as tresured dish.. please please, make sure you get it right! I can't believe that he added the meat last of all! and did not have nearly enough palm oil in the dish! It resembled a stir fry rather than plassas! Oh and he forget a little okra to give it it's draw draw!

  • So, i had cassava leaves and I fell in love with it. We don't have this in Nigeria. I did everything as was said in the video (except groundnut). I cooked the cassava leaves for 2 hours and it was still slightly hard. What is a good rule of thumb. Should the leaves be cooked on high or medium heat?

One of my favorite is casava leaf I usually get a lady to cook it for me but she moved and I loss contact..i watch her a couple of times but she does it different...im now trying to learn how to mak it...can someone please help me with a recipe

  • Give Sammy credit for trying. Most men do not cook in Sierra Leone. His Mom was very proud to hear that he is giving it a try. I've been using sweet bells in my plassas since his suggestion, and find it tastes great.

  • lol..brodda!. plassass noh get sweet peppeh pan am.... na scotch bonnet u geh foh use... !

  • A few notes: the pepper is from Sierra Leone (dried and ground). There are many versions of cassava leaf, but this is meant to give you a general idea.

  • lol...wooow...he cooks his waaayy different...!! What about the ogri and blending the pepper and onions together?! That little boy on the right couldnt even take another bite! lol

  • @gorgeouschik08 what is ogri?

  • Wow!...This is not how you cook cassada leaf!!

  • yeah... i was kinda thinking the same thing... arent you supposed the blend the onions and pepper?

  • Well, blending the pepper is not an absolute requirement. Give the guy some credit! Everyone's cassava leaves doesn't have to be exactly the same.

  • Everyone has his/her version. There is no one way you have to cook it.

  • playing it safe with the cayenne pepper, huh? lol. where's the real fiery "traditional" pepper at?
