everyone who is complaining - where's your video response with another way? dis na-toh di wey we bin deh cook cassada leef weh a bin dey na kabala. but dis ya man done try oh!
thats the thing about africans, we dont know how to keep track of measurements. is it wrong to say tablespoon or 1 cup? i am sierra leonean, but american born and i want to learn how to make casava leaf. quantity of ingredients? or measure by taste??
Dan, you tried; I know you are trying to show case that, we, Sierra Leonean men, can cook. But I can tell you this is so terrible a way to prepare one of our famous dishes. The absence of a "wow" reaction from your young friends should tell you that you are still not up to the task. Get more lessons, my friend. And don't even venture to show how to prepare jute leaves (krain-krain) dish.
This is NOT how it is cooked in my household or any other SL's I know. But if it works for you so be it, just don't say that's how it's done back home.
You sure left a mark on me; with want you are doing here what in the world? and I am going to ask my Sierra Leonians friends if this is how cassave leaf is cooked.
Daniel, Daniel, who show you how to make this cassava leaf cause you are making a mess here. That dog looks mad ass hell! for the mess that you are making.
@bimbtful Thanx and yea it takes me and my grandma very long to make and we do a few more steps, but we ran out of palm oil and are in the US don't want to go to africa to get palm oil :/ i hope the king i have is right it says organic palm oil im cooking cassava now to make sure its the right kind for xmas
GREAT job can you PLEASE tell me what type of palm oil you use for the cassava? is it red palm oil, kernnal palm oil,? the kind from the fruit or the kind from the kernal?
@sundailove ; Actually, they both taste great, also coconut oil; what he´s made is fast casada leaf plassas; and yummy too! Guess its okay for those of us who like doing things d fast way. Back home, it would be considered almost a sin making it this way; but what d hell, as long as it tastes good!!
I am Malaysian living in Houston, TX. I love cassava leaves. One of my favourite dish. We cook it many ways. I like it no matter how you cook it. hehe... Thanks for sharing.
I'm Liberian and we cook our cassava leaves WAY different......... But it doesn't matter, just because others do things differently, doesn't mean it's wrong......I would honestly like to try your version....
ah beg ouda show dis guy how for cook cassava leaf
This is horrible i nearly died laughing I would never ever eat that next time if you are going to get someone to cook a traditional african meal for you please get someone who knows how this is a gross misrepresentation of our culture and it's food
I def give him credit for trying, however if your going to go public with such as tresured dish.. please please, make sure you get it right! I can't believe that he added the meat last of all! and did not have nearly enough palm oil in the dish! It resembled a stir fry rather than plassas! Oh and he forget a little okra to give it it's draw draw!
So, i had cassava leaves and I fell in love with it. We don't have this in Nigeria. I did everything as was said in the video (except groundnut). I cooked the cassava leaves for 2 hours and it was still slightly hard. What is a good rule of thumb. Should the leaves be cooked on high or medium heat?
am from Nigeria, my co-worker is from sierra leaone, at first i was like i cant eat cassave leaf but now am addicted to it and am getting ready to start making some at home, i know is not the Nigerian dish but i like it, i came online to search for the recipe....thanks sammy.

I give you credit for posting this video and making Cassava leaf...it's very difficult to make it to me. I have tried and everytime I fail because it's so bitter maybe I need to cook it longer but then it starts to burn on the bottome of the pot LOL! I'm not from Sierra Leone I'm African American with Sierra Leone Hubby!
Hi I'm originally from Panama but i really love all kinds of foods. One of my favorite is casava leaf I usually get a lady to cook it for me but she moved and I loss contact..i watch her a couple of times but she does it different...im now trying to learn how to mak it...can someone please help me with a recipe
Give Sammy credit for trying. Most men do not cook in Sierra Leone. His Mom was very proud to hear that he is giving it a try. I've been using sweet bells in my plassas since his suggestion, and find it tastes great.
A few notes: the pepper is from Sierra Leone (dried and ground). There are many versions of cassava leaf, but this is meant to give you a general idea.
lol...wooow...he cooks his waaayy different...!! What about the ogri and blending the pepper and onions together?! That little boy on the right couldnt even take another bite! lol
I LOVE TO WHATCH A MAN COOK IN THE KITCHEN. I REALLY

Well, blending the pepper is not an absolute requirement. Give the guy some credit! Everyone's cassava leaves doesn't have to be exactly the same.
