  • Well... from my perspective and hearing, I would say that the carbon fiber sounds more "plasticky" and with less reverb. The wood seems to have a more organic and paced way to carry the reverberation. Anyone that has ever played any instrument knows that the acoustics of the environment plays a tremendous role in the sound wave propagation. Try playing in the bathroom of your college...

  • @jatigre1 i love playing in the bathroom :D

  • Does sound better than an original cello is about the same?

  • i get amazed at how it seems to really project out the sound.

  • is the carbon fiber lighter?

  • No; it actually weighs about the same.

  • So, miss Josephine, what do you think about your carbon fiber cello? How good is to play on it, how's it's sound different to the other cellos you play? I mean.. we can have an idea on the video but, how's your first hand experience? Regards

  • how much do one of these cost?

  • One of my best friends plays a carbon fiber guitar and it has has a distinctive sound. We guitarists like to use the term "bite" for that treble feel.

  • i so agree...it sounds cool with that extra edge...

  • sounds great!

  • Thanks. Have you listened to my other performances of this suite?

    CD coming soon.

  • ye, I always listen a few times too. I play guitar, but it just isn't an emotional instrument, like a cello or violin

  • You must have the wrong influences then. Go get some Marty Friedman solo albums or Free "Live"

  • wow thats so damn bright

  • It is so much fun to hear the different opinions on this cello. In performances the feedback I received was that people either hate it or love it it seems! No one appears to be neutral....

  • haha i like it but... its a diferent sound completely... its kind of weird to hear something unusual. purists will hate it and the oter ones... i dont know... will have no words as me...

  • i for one like the edge on it, i wonder if it'll sound even more edgy in a dome or a cathedral where you can amplify or bounce the music onto the walls. is it lighter than the usual cello?

  • Yes; in a cathedral it sounds really, really rich too. I recorded the suites (for sale on my website) in a very large church; the carbon sounds amazing in there! The instrument always sounds as if it has a "built-in reverb". The perfect cello for dead acoustics or outdoor gigs.

  • @josephinevanlier i like it but i think i would miss the sound of the wood

  • Nice sounding cello
