@berenJRRT I don't know but i was wondering the same thing. Our choir is learning this set and there will be tryouts for the solo which i am interested in. It was a little odd having to learn it based off his rendition of the song instead of a woman's... :)
@abagyoni He's singing an F# that whole line, both at 3:40 here and also as indicated in the score on the word "coissin". Did you mean another spot maybe?
Meravigliose !!!! Atmosfera fiabesca e rarefatta, idillio fra angeli e fate, echi e suoni si rimbalzano le melodie e giochi sonori !!! Meravigliose !!!! Debussy ..... la sua musica era ..... PROFUMO !!!!!!!!!
As good as the soloist might be, I think it was a mistake not to follow Debussy's indication of having an alto singing it. The male soloist is too close in register to many of the "la, la, la" and loses clarity. Still, a great performance overall :-)
@Craze895 You are welcome!!!! These Chansons are too much overshadowed by Debussy's piano and orchestral works. It's subtlety and elegance are unsurpassed.
My choir in Zurich Switzerland ist planning to sing these trois Chansons together with other french songs (Poulenc, Fauré, Martin, Françaix...) in concert in November. Thank you very much for this high qualitiy sound and the notes, it makes it really easy to rehearse...
And if you happen to come to switrerland, come and see us sing ;-)
@historygenius That means that you have a good idea now what it sounds like. Good for you that you took the trouble to find the music you are going to sing on YT.
@bartje11 Our choir teacher played it for us, I liked it so much that I looked it up on YT. Don't give me too much credit. PS the pronunciation is really difficult for us Californians, who speak essentially "newscaster" English.
@historygenius You must have a good choir and director! I am quite sure you guys will do great with the pronunciation. Keep me posted! Greetings from Oregon.
My high school Madrigal group sang all three - but that was many years ago. 1970 I was just thinking about it so I looked it up and found this. Good memories. It was really fun to sing.
@bartje11 they recorded all three chansons... but it's not on youtube! if you send me your email adress i can send it to you! or i could try uploading it and then let you know!
@locomotifx I listened to it, and I liked it. Works quite well with trombones. But, let's get not carried away, what if Kenny G finds out??? SCARY THOUGHT.
@bartje11 (lol - that's how one puts it, ain't it?) yeah, they're terrific instruments even if they do look kinda funny. I LOVED the cover! Let's hope it doesn't get out, tho...
@locomotifx the problem is last year we could have, but we got a new director who does not pus u...at all, my junior year we went to preform in carnegie hall, but thank you for the support =D
@Theconcertbass Sounds like you're doing pretty well to me! It must be difficult being in a group needing such high standards of coordination etc. without a director who does push you hard! Best of fortune :)
Beautiful. And what a fabulous, elegant tenor soloist in the second movement!

Does anybody know whether the score or the soloist is wrong at 3:40, the "cois-" syllable? For he sings it a minor third upper.

too fast for my taste... does anyone of you know the trombone quartet version by four of a kind? even more beautiful on trombones...

@mortalfrog0815 Which song are you talking about? Trombones sounding more beautiful than voices? I HAVE to hear it before I believe it.
