  • Jackie Greene is so under rated!!

  • who is on lead? He is really good.

  • It's the one and only Jackie Greene. He's Awesome!!

  • yeah jackie greene is something else. one of the best voices and hes badass on guitar.

  • That would be Larry Campbell. He's been a part of Bob Dylan's bands in the past as well. He plays everything with strings and is incredible.

  • who's the lead singer?

  • It's the one and only Jackie Greene. He's Awesome!!

  • Yeah He is Good

  • seems to me bobby didn't need a teleprompter

  • This kid songs the song better than Weir has in 20 years.

  • that would be awful, except for the fact that it's totally true

  • That's a fuckin' insult. How can you compare this kid to Mr. Bob Weir.

  • hmm, I think I just did

    wait...yes I did

Bobby was great doing it with the Grateful Dead, hell even not bad doing it with "The Dead", but every Ratdog version i've heard is very weak.

Not to say I don't like Bobby with Ratdog, I love some of the newer stuff with them like Welcome to the World and Two Djinn, but when they do Sugar Magnolia, it just does'nt rock anymore.

Jackie Green is putting some pep back into it, and Phil's band is always tops!

  • Yea, I agree Green is goog. His is definitley

passionate about the way he sings, but no where near Bob. Bob is Dark Star class. I'm refering to the "Grateful Dead" Bob not "Rat Dog" or "The Dead" Bob! I think this kid is great, but he just can't be compared to Weir. Weir sang some smokin Sugar Mags in the last 20 years.

  • yeah, I guess it's more Ratdog that i've never been impressed with.

I do love Bobby for the record(even though I think he was at his best pre-shorts, lol)

  • @ssharper420 , Hey fuck Mr. Bob Weir! He's only good with the "Dead" or "Furthur" ! He was almost kicked out of the Dead by Jerry several times for your information! Yes! The great Mr. Bob Weir!!!!!!!!!

  • @ssharper420 You're an insult, fuckwad.

  • relax guys and gals...take it all in, its all good...vaporize, legalize, deodorize, but don't demonize...just got tiks to Rattdoog w/ bob weir this a.m for Jones Beach, Long Island, N.Y. for this summer....also seeing Phil Lesh and friends there this summer as well...can't wait to compare and contrast...

  • Call someone who cares.

  • I've heard the Grateful Dead play Sugar Magnolia about ten different ways. For musicians it's called improvisational jamming which is what they did every show. The Allmans Brothers with Duane were one of the best at improvisational jamming during their live shows.

  • Sorry....you Deadheads are too serious. Enjoy it all, yeah some is better than others. Is there a riff between Weir and Lesh, I don't know. I love seeing multiple interpretations of the same tunes. I think I'd like to see both bands the next time they come around. What would suck is: if none of these guys were around anymore.

  • Best Sugar Mag EVER!

    -Comic Book Store Guy("The Simpsons")

  • I don't know if the remaining members of the Grateful Dead miss the Greatful Dead...But I Do.

  • It would be great if the remaining members could get past their differences and play together again.

  • They did once. It was called Deadheads for Obama. Pretty cool.

  • It is great to hear Phil rip out Sugar Mags, Rat Dog doesn't quite get it going quite like Phil does!!

  • It's Bobby's song dude. Although this is a great tribute to Bob Weir, it's not quite as good as a killer Ratdog version.

  • Actually it is a Robert Hunter/ Bob Weir Tune.

  • Get serious, it's Bobby's dude. I have no problem with Phil or anyone else who wants to play it. But come on, it's Bobby's song.

  • its the deads'

  • No offense to Bobby, but Phil's group is closer to the true improvisational spirit embodied by the Grateful Dead.

  • Ratdog is not trying to re-create The Grateful Dead. You must have them confused with DSO. Ratdog is Ratdog.

  • Phil isn't trying to re-create the Grateful Dead, either. Just because Jerry died doesn't mean Phil doesn't have the right to play these songs(not in the exact way the GD did)in a similar, improvisational, adventurous manner, as he did throughout the career of the GD.Anyway, that's apples and oranges, cuz I love Bobby, too. Truce? Rock On, Brutha!!

  • Truce

  • It's different for Phil to cover a Bob song than it is for Bob to cover a Phil song. Although you never see Bob covering a Phil song, Bob's repertoire made up a MUCH bigger chunk of the setlists from 65-95 so Phil can't really get away from it if he wants to play the songs that the fans want to hear.

  • goddamn i cant believe that jackie is this good... i really like how the band is put together... but then again i think i always like what phil puts together

  • where are larry and steve??

  • i was here! cool show but the one the night before i herd they played viola lee blues herd it was incredible

  • Jackie Greene would smoke Bobby under the table, however, Bobby doesn't play lead guitar.

In fact, Bobby hardly plays at all! Ha.

And I LOVE the Dead with hundreds of shows attended including Phil, Ratdog etc.

    Phil and Friends rocks.

  • Bobby needs to teach this kid a thing or two. Decent, nonetheless.

  • WOOOHOOO NYC here i come!!!
