When I was a kid, this was the highlight of staying home from school sick. The joy watching the whammy wipe out some poor greedy bastards stash would bring me back then is very rarely replicated in my adult life!! GO WHAMMY
Holy Shit East Cleveland? I guarantee that the lady who won that home player spin had all her money stolen or used it for drugs. East Cleveland is a dangerous rotten city where crime and drug activities dominate.
I wonder why Peter always had to say "And if (fill in blank) gets money and a spin, you'll receieve the money, and and (fill in blank) will get the money and the spin". How the heck would you mail out a spin?
I bet they were thinking that if they hit something with a spin, then the "home player" would get another home player spin. Basically them making sure that that particular spin was the only one the home player was to get.
If someone hit $5,000 + ONE SPIN twice and then $2,500, for example, they'd have to send the home player $12,500 (since, after all, it was on the same spin number for that contestant).
haha the price is right Whoop Whoop sound for big winneres. I suppose they used it here because Press Your Luck was shot in Studio 33, "The Bob Barker Studio", the studio where the price is right is shot.
I went to the PYL Episode Guide and I saw that Day 25 of the third and final Home Player Spin was the best ever. $36,000 was won for the home player because the winning contestant spun the all-cash board at the end of the program.
"Settle down, Jessie! Settle down, Jessie! Just a minute: I can't talk to Jessie. She's running around the room!"
We all know Peter didn't know what Jessie was doing; that was just another display of his spectacular ad-libbing and sense of humor that made PYL such fun!
Michael Larson seemed to have been disturbed when the Home Player Spin SFX was activated. He thought that he was so into the "get rich quick" scheme and was busted. Oh, that lucky Larson.
"Settle down Jessie...settle down Jessie...I SAID SETTLE DOWN!"
(audiences falls quiet)
"Thank you, audience."

That was the point--he wanted to clarify that the home player wouldn't get whatever the contestant hit in the spin afterward.

home player spin occured 3x..in may-june 1984 and twice in '85
campsports3 3 years ago
That can't have happened in 1985, because the Home Player Spin stopped in 1984.
PlutoTheSecond 3 years ago
No, that's not true. The Home Player Game continued into 1985, although I'm not sure if it continued into 1986 . . .
amez4life 3 years ago
It didn't the last one is the all cash spin in November of '85

im sure just about anybody who has even heard of PYL knows of the michael larson(R.I.P.) episode and if im correct he had a home player spin.
i'll bet that the person larson was spinning for was thinking "why couldn't he have gotten me $5,000?!)
