Beat this boss with 0 rings, that's the way to do it, that's how I did it when I was younger. It feels weird to have rings or be super/hyper and to spin dash the hands to attack them.

@JonnyMacJono doesn't matter anyway once you go to Doomsday Zone you Automantically Transform Hyper Sonic you just have to keep collecting Rings to stay alive otherwise you keep dying alot

@D4V13 look its really not he is SOOO easy if you can get the timing right its just do the same pattern its not that hard In fact the hardest part is phase 3 as its really easy to fall off the edge after you hit him

Wow why thumbs down Supermario667? I died on the first battle and it instantly spawned me at the final boss fight with no rings or score, and I still beat the final boss. (Granted I died A LOT this being my first time, credits are actually playing as I type :O)

Sonic and Knuckles was indeed a great addition to the Sonic library of games. You can use Knuckles in Sonic 3 and Sonic 2 and that's pretty awesome.
