yeah i read this book about 6MONTHS after it came out .great book ....i thought it was very interesting with the bleaching and all.hell i know many families still practicing this today in 2009 wow! you'd swear they are white .the Melanin always comes through...case point NICOLE RITCHIE ..LOOK AT HER DAUGHTER..THE SON THOUGH IS TOTALLY BLEACHED. I attended St. Matthew High School on the banks of Cane River, along with many Metoyers, Rachals, LaCours, etc. This book isn't about the Isle Brevelle Creoles, per se, Tademy's relatives hail from a different part of Louisiana. I wrote a novel featuring Cane River Creoles entitled Road Toads and the Parrot's Beak and I hope to find a publisher soon
