  • For me, Laura Nyro belongs in an elite category of vocalists: Freddie Mercury, Marvin Gaye, George Michael, Ronnie Dyson, Karen Carpenter, and Stevie Wonder. Laura Nyro is musically uninhibited, wild, truly has fury in her soul (as she says in "Save The Country). Like Mercury, Gaye, Michael, and Wonder, she is a singer-songwriter, which is something I deeply admire additionally. :)

  • I will love you today, tomorrow, yesterday and forever!

  • A facebook freind posted one of her songs tonight...Now I'm converted , just wonderful...

  • This whole album is absolutely FANTASTIC. Goosebumps all the way.

  • What a wonderful answer! Eli's Coming on the front side, The Confession on the back, and 13 songs! Laura, you are STILL having fun with us...

  • Great song from Laura's most fun album. "Eli" is legendary, it's her Sgt Pepper. Her vivid imagination really goes wild on this record, and she takes the listener on a non stop thrill ride. I dig the later, heavier message stuff by her as well, but this album will always be my fave, it's young Laura at her most imaginative, and a pure joy to listen to all the way though!

  • do we all know why the album is titled eli and the thirteenth confession? because last song on the first side is ELI'S COMIN last song on the second side is THE CONFESSION and there are 13 songs

  • do we all know why the album is titled eli and the thirteenth confession?

  • I saw her in 76, Carnegie Hall. It was amazing.

  • Oh man! Such unbridled passion, Only Laura can spell it out in with such raw emotion. What a gift from God to the World she was. There will never never be another like her.

  • I confess that Laura was the love of my life.

When I hear her voice I could die happy.

She was the one and the only one in a million or setillion!!!!!!

  • If you want to know how to love a woman, Laura here, has just given you all the information you need to understand a real woman, right here n this song.

  • Thank you....I have two children, a boy and a girl.....they watch Hanna Montana, Britany Spears, Justin Bieber, etc. They are too young to understand how their daddy feels about Laura Nyro..or what she meant to me and my friends, my HARD ROCK friends...we were all in bands then.and we honestly considered her sacred, no joke...I think Todd Rundgren wrote a song called "Laura" to try and voice our feelings....but I will try do do my best...to let them know...who she was...and what she meant to us..

  • @chunter5100 I was on my first trip to New York, right after this album came out. Everybody in the East Village had it in the front of their record stack. I asked someone about it as I had never heard of it and the cover had more wear than any of the others. They didn't answer and just turned the player on, as it was already loaded. .

  • @chunter5100 WOW! That was the way it was everywhere I went for weeks until I went back to Tucson and turned everybody on to her. Losing her was a great loss to us all even if we hadn't heard her yet, as we would and still feel her impact, as she is the same age as myself and here I am on my 64th birthday crying like a baby over her music.

  • @chunter5100 There is a Laura Nyro site on MySpace and a I signed up as her friend. The lady who ran the site was her mother, I think, who thanked me for keeping her memory alive. I said are you kidding, THANK YOU! There are so very few people I have ever heard that was as much loved as Laura was and is. There is no way she will EVER die. I almost didn't go to New York as I don't care much for big cities, but after hearing Laura in 1968 I knew that she was going to be big, and I mean BIG...

  • I put on Laura when I need to appreciate the joy of being alive.

    love my lovething

  • Full of rare beauty and unique artistry.

  • One of those records where from start to finish you would not change one thing. A complete masterpiece, and a trip every time you listen to it.

  • A true original -- her only rival was/is Joni.

  • the only woman i ever loved. i'm 58 and unmarried. a musician. "i confess."

  • Scary, passionate song and an incredible performance; I don't believe anyone has dared to cover it. Yeah, chunter, she is holy.

  • This is under 3 minutes long? WOW! It has so much in it, it seemed like like an epic almost. That's fantastic!

  • One of her greatest vocal performances, I think! Even when she sings the line "Mama, it's my pain" It shows an almost alarming intensity while displaying a supreme maturity and feel for the music. Yet she was, what....20, 21 year old????

  • One of my favorites. Always been a fan. Thanks for the post.

  • Vanindigo, adorei, agradeço por compartilhar!

  • is nobody else reminded of 'love to love you baby' by donna summer? this is a better song though...

  • @FunBoy15 It is better and older too!

  • @FunBoy15 A little. Maybe they ripped Laura off a bit.

  • @FunBoy15 It so happens that Donna Summer is a big fan of Lauras' music. 'Love my love thing', right?

  • Wow this tune has rocked me since I first heard it at 18 (I'm now twice that!!) Gorgeous X

  • She was just WAY ahead of her time.

  • She is easily the greatest female artist I have ever heard...god bless you Laura Nyro, and thank you for your music..it affected my life, and my friends...

you were and are a true genius...and I was once lucky enough to see you live...and I have never , ever gotten over you.....kiss....

  • @chunter5100 - Oh you are a TRILLION times SO right - She's not ONLY the Greatest Female Artist but amongst the GREATEST of ALL Artists - Male and Femaie - Vocalist/Master Songwriter - Exceptional Musician - she had it all to become a Mega-Super Star - but she was way beyond her Time and not too many people could get into her Music - what a great pity. It is people like you, me and others who truly appreciate her Music, that keeps it alive and going for the next Generations who find this Gem!!!

  • @atisaseret

Thanks, but you have to know that ALL my friends who were all musicians, loved her..I mean we worshiped her..we actually thought she was holy....and we were into Zepplin , ELP, Yes, etc etc....we were all in bands in high school...I know Todd Rundgren wrote a song to her...I saw her 3 times..we were in awe... we all knew who she really was....and she never did get the recognition she deserved.. her songs made everyone ELSE into superstars...but there will only be one Laura Nyro..

  • @chunter5100 Wow - being a Musician myself, I just can't come to terms how she keeps being snubbed by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Music Industry in general. In one of Life's strange twists - I'm close friends with 2 people who were close Friends with her. Ironically, I never got to see her perform life - though I worshipped Her, but in a small way, I feel that I know her better through being Friends with Laura's close Friends. At least I can hold on to that.- it means the world to me!

  • @chunter5100 I agree with you 1 trillion percent! She was a Musical Super-Genius among Musical Super-Geniuses! I ADORE her!!!!

  • @chunter5100 OK it took a year for someone to respond -- but hunter is RIGHT - Laura Nyro's compositions beautiful, complex, dynamic and yes pure genius. Help keep her name and memory active. Blog, Facebook, Tweet about her and introduce her music to the younger generations. What we need is a top 10 cover of one of some of her songs -- LADY GAGA!!!! WeVIDIOTs

  • @chunter5100

Amen. I would turn the lights down low and meditate and listen to her music and NOTHING else existed in the world at that time. Pure beauty, and bliss.

  • this woman was absolutly fantastic...

this music is from more tthan 40 years ago !!!!

and sounds noy dated at all!!!

she used to have a huge musical soul!

    i love her

laura i hope you rest in peace somewhere!

    :)

  • so great!!!! :)
