so was there anything between level 1 and this? any explanation why we're on this planet?

@14159 In the build, no. It's late in developent but many cut scenes aren't there at all. From the Game Progession Document (basically outlays the entire story) I can tell you that SG1 go to this planet (it's called PC3-796) because Anubis is looking for something and has sent his forces there. He's looking for the artifact that you can see a little later.
