Our Song's and our culture go way back before the Whiteman came to rule us who our we too change a dance and way of life that was givin to us by Our Elders and ancestors would you do this dance in front of your great grandfathers grandfather? i think not !.
no one should forget who they are or where they come from or their ancestors and people arethat are blessed with a rich culture like this should always keep it alive and at times merge it with todays society but never let go of the tradition either
Awesome concept... This world is changing, and its hard to keep up with it all. We as lingit people are evolving. Our culture has never been lost. Only been sleeping. And it will come back to us. Atlein gunalcheesh for sharing.
Hmmm. I'd have to agree with Glacierhouse1. I composed the music to this song. "We will once again open up the container of wisdom left in our care." I KNOW,...that is not what came out of the box in this video.
Continue to live the past then. I'm all for carrying on tradition and culture, but we need to change and challenge the perception of culture if we want to grow and develop as a people. I don't think my band would be honouring me if they thought I was doing something wrong. And it is up to us, Nick & I (+ MANY others), to provoke change in our respected cultures. But don't worry, you'll still have your traditions to hang onto, we are rewriting history, we are amplifying it!
Nick's devotion to expanding the understanding of our culture honours the ancestors because he provides a new direction for our culture to grow and develop. Without artist like Nick, our culture remains in the realm of the lost. His practice is diverse, he builds the contemporary as well as the traditional. Time to open your eyes glacierhouse1
you too were not raised properly it is your relatives fault or you would be in agreement not trying to prove your intellegence as a wise one or witty one because your neither.
as a true Lingit dancer and Traditionalist you would also bring shame to your family.
this is not our future you kids always want to change thing's that have been with us many thousands of years before you and I, it's is not up to us too change our culture and traditions.
@BigHashTouraj what does dancing have to do with sacrifices culture should be preserved and not forgotten except in the form of harm you took it to a different connotation please rethink what you are saying and it is very ignorant to think that anything but the current main stream culture is the only one that is acceptable may God bless you
@tinky508 shut the fuck up, idk what i say to piss ur self righteous 15yr old dumbass and i dont give shit. i hate art, i hate indians and i hate u. glad ur people are almost fucking extinct. you piece of shit n hope u get ur tongue ripped out for saying "ignorant" like a every retard one the planet. u r 1 out of 5.6 billion people. die!
@silenthillbilies these statements only proves the fact the ignorance has filled you heart to the point feel sorry true my people are limited in number but what does that say about you history that they took all the gain alot of power but they are detroying the world and thus themselve for the quest of power and so they can look down on those that they feel are ignorant so i am sorry you feel this way may God bless you and give you understand because it is clear you lack
@silenthillbilies Whites in America are soon to become the minority everywhere, not just in certain states. I suggest you remove your head from up your ass and get on a boat back to Europe and you will see the same shit happening there my friend. We're gonna ship all you white bastards to Antartica. Bring a coat, bitch! Obama 2012!
I ain't no hater player. From the more info section I assume that's you directing and dancing Nicholas Galanin. Very nice dancing. Are you dancing at Celebration 2010?
I had the pleasure to see him live. It is amazing the way he moves and the ability he has to improvise. I don't think there's anyone who even dares to compete with David.
